Woodley, Saskatchewan
Woodley is an unincorporated community in Benson Rural Municipality No. 35, Saskatchewan, Canada. Demographics Woodley, like many other small communities throughout Saskatchewan, has struggled to maintain a steady population causing it to become a semi ghost town. Although numbers are dwindling, it has had a spike (with renewed oil exploration) in recent influx. It is now the snowmobile capital of the world, and may be the toy capital of the world with sleds equalling more than the population. This community flourishes with a younger generation, giving it unique limited growth to a select few families. John Woodley
John Woodley (born Brisbane, Queensland, 9 February 1938) is an ordained Methodist minister and was a Senator representing the state of Queensland, Australia, in the Australian Senate. Life before politics Woodley was briefly in the Australian Defence Force from 1957 to 1959. Education Woodley was educated at the Melbourne College of Divinity and Brisbane College of Theology. Christian ministry Prior to entering politics, Woodley was ordained a minister of the Methodist Church in October 1962 and continued his clerical duties with its successor, the Uniting Church in Australia, after church union in June 1977. During his ministry, Woodley worked mainly in rural churches and had extensive contact with Aboriginal people. He served as Director of Social Responsibility in the Uniting Church, Queensland Synod, from 1977 to December 1984 and was very active fighting for justice during the Joh Bjelke-Petersen era in Queensland. Woodley Airways was a carrier based in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. The airline was founded in 1932 by Art Woodley (died 30 May 1990, aged 84). Woodley Airways operated a flight from Anchorage to Nome. It was a one plane one pilot operation. It quickly caught on as an alternative to a dogsled trip. Woodley charged customers 150 dollars; the sled trip took 750 dollars. In 1943 Woodley Airways tried to change their name to Alaska Airlines as that name went to Star Air Service. LaMarr Dewayne Woodley (born November 3, 1984) is a former American football outside linebacker. He played college football at Michigan, where he was recognized as a unanimous All-American, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
