Vindication (horse)
Vindication (January 28, 2000 in Kentucky – July 10, 2008) was an American Thoroughbred Champion racehorse. Bred by Payson Stud Inc., he was sired by 1977 U.S. Triple Crown Champion Seattle Slew. Out of the mare Strawberry Reason, Vindication's damsire was Strawberry Road, the international star who raced in Australia, Germany, France, Japan, and the United States, and was voted the 1983 Australian Champion Racehorse of the Year and 1984 Champion Older Horse in Germany. Vindication was purchased for $2.15 million at the 2001 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale by Satish Sanan's Padua Stables of Ocala, Florida, who handed him over to trainer Bob Baffert for race conditioning. Sent to the track at age two, Vindication won his first two races at Del Mar Racetrack in California. Then, on September 14 at Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky, he captured the Grade III Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes by six lengths. ''Vindication'' is independent film maker Bart Mastronardi's feature length psychological horror film, based on his award-winning short. The film is a morality tale about a young man whose attempt at suicide fails causing his guilt to manifest into reality. Plot At the age of twenty Nicolas Bertram is a first year Art student at college whose career appears to be on the right track, but Nicolas' life has been filled with the guilt of unfortunate events. With no money and barely able to pay for college, Nicolas eases his guilt as a cutter; someone who leaves slashes of razor marks on his body due to emotional pain. His only friend that he confides in is his roommate, Michel Rodriguez, a young gay man majoring in Art with Nicolas. Vindication Island ( es, Isla Vindicación) is a small uninhabited island in the South Sandwich Islands. It lies about from Candlemas Island, separated by the Nelson Channel. The island is mostly ice free. Geography This small island is part of the Candlemas Islands subgroup of the South Sandwich Islands. The island's highest point is Quadrant Peak at , while the south-easternmost cape is Chinstrap Point. Its southwesternmost point is Knob Point, charted in 1930 by Discovery Investigations personnel on the ''Discovery II'', and probably so named because a conspicuous height of land overlooks the point. Splinter Crag forms its northern peak. Vindication Island is the eroded remains of a former volcanic group.
