The Streets (soundtrack)
The Streets is an English musical project led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner. The project was founded in the early 90s, while Skinner was still a teenager; however, no music would formally eventuate until the early 2000s. In the initial run of The Streets, the project released five studio albums: '' Original Pirate Material'' (2002), ''A Grand Don't Come for Free'' (2004), ''The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living'' (2006), '' Everything Is Borrowed'' (2008) and '' Computers and Blues'' (2011). The Streets also released a string of successful singles during this time, which reached the Top 40 on the UK Singles chart – including " Has It Come to This?", " Fit but You Know It", " Dry Your Eyes" (the project's only number-one single), "When You Wasn't Famous" and " Prangin' Out". Morgan Nicholls
Morgan Daniel Nicholls (born 18 March 1971) is an English musician, member of English pop band Senseless Things and best known for performing with Muse, Gorillaz, The Streets and Lily Allen. He has released one solo album under the mononym Morgan. Career Nicholls began his career with Senseless Things, with whom he released four studio albums between 1989 and 1995. He was subsequently involved with Vent 414 until 1997. In 2002, Morgan was involved as a producer on QueenAdreena's '' Drink Me''. In August 2004, he temporarily joined the alternative rock band Muse at the V Festival, filling in for bassist Christopher Wolstenholme who had broken his wrist playing football. ''None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive'' is a mixtape by English rapper and producer Mike Skinner, under his music project The Streets. It was released on 10 July 2020 under Island Records. Singles On 14 April 2020, The Streets announced the first single "Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing Better", which features Australian artist Tame Impala. The second single "I Wish You Loved You As Much As You Love Him", which features Greentea Peng and Donae'o, was released on 4 June 2020. Critical reception ''None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive'' was met with "generally favorable" reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, this release received an average score of 77, based on 9 reviews. When You Wasn't Famous
"When You Wasn't Famous" is a single by English rapper and producer Mike Skinner under the music project The Streets. It is the first single from their third studio album, '' The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living''. Released on 30 March 2006, it went straight to number 8 in the UK and number 26 in Ireland. The song's chorus is about how Skinner finds it easier to have sexual relations with non-famous women now that he's famous, but how things are just like they used to be when attempts to sleep with a similarly famous woman. The song's verses recount Skinner's unsuccessful attempt to seduce a female pop star. The lyrics are purportedly autobiographical, but Skinner has never confirmed the identity of the pop star (who at one point is described "smok ng crack") in question. He has, however, categorically denied rumours that it is Cheryl Cole or Rachel Stevens. The song describes the protagonist trying to cope with his girlfriend breaking up with him. It was released in the UK on 19 July 2004. "Fit but You Know It" is a song by English rapper and producer Mike Skinner under the music project the Streets. It was released on 26 April 2004 as the lead single of the Streets' second studio album, ''A Grand Don't Come for Free'' (2004). The song reached number four on the UK Single Charts. Background Skinner told the Daily Star that the lyrics refer to former S Club 7 member Rachel Stevens who was embarking on a solo career at the time the song was recorded. He later denied the song was about Stevens and said that he threw her name out as a red herring to escape the nosey reporter's questions. ''Computers and Blues'' is the fifth studio album by English rapper and producer Mike Skinner, under the music project The Streets. It was officially released in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2011. It contains 14 songs, including an appearance from British singer-songwriter Clare Maguire. Rob Harvey of The Music worked closely with Skinner on the album and features on several songs. The cover photo is a close-up of the Ziggurats, Norfolk Terrace halls of residence at the University of East Anglia designed by architect Denys Lasdun. The 'Blues' part of the title refers to Skinner's beloved Birmingham City. ''Everything Is Borrowed'' is the fourth studio album by English rapper and producer Mike Skinner, under the music project The Streets. Released in the United Kingdom on 15 September 2008, and in the United States on 7 October 2008, Skinner describes the album as a "peaceful coming to terms album" and as containing "peaceful positive vibes" which stand in stark contrast to the previous album, ''The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living'', which Skinner has described as a "guilt-ridden indulgence". The album's eponymous first single, was released on 29 September 2008. In the months leading up to the album's release, "The Escapist" was offered online as a free download, accompanied by a music video.
