Sands Of Time (idiom)
The sands of time is an English idiom relating the passage of time to the sand in an hourglass. The hourglass is an antiquated timing instrument consisting of two glass chambers connected vertically by a narrow passage which allows sand to trickle from the upper part to the lower by means of gravity. The amount of sand determines the amount of time that passes as the chamber is emptied. The image of the sand being emptied in the hourglass creates a visual metaphor for the limited duration of human life, and for the inevitability of change in the world as a whole. ''God Bless America'' is the second compilation album from American recording artist LeAnn Rimes. The album was released on October 16, 2001. The album comprises patriotic and inspirational songs that were originally recorded on her '' You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs'' album (tracks one, two, eight and ten), as well as songs from her commercial album, ''All That'' (tracks five, seven and nine), under the independent label, Nor Va Jak, although "Why Can't We" and "Middle Man" are both re-recordings. "Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart" was originally released as a bonus single, with the song "Unchained Melody", alongside ''Blue'' at Target during the 1996 Christmas season. The only two new songs that were released on the album were "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Sands of Time". The album was released as a patriotic tribute to the events of September 11, 2001, with the liner stating "These classic recordings were made while America was first discovering LeAnn Rimes." Gary Nelson (director)
Gary Nelson (October 6, 1934 – May 25, 2022) was an American television and film director. He directed many television series, including ''Get Smart'', '' Gunsmoke'', ''Have Gun – Will Travel'', ''The Patty Duke Show'', '' Gilligan's Island'' and ''Happy Days''. In addition, Nelson directed five feature films, including Disney's ''Freaky Friday'' (1976), and many television movies, including '' Murder in Coweta County'' starring Johnny Cash and Andy Griffith. In 1978, Nelson was nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series on '' Washington: Behind Closed Doors''. Nelson was born in Los Angeles, California. He was married to actress Judi Meredith, who died on April 30, 2014; the couple had two sons. During semi-retirement, Nelson continued to occasionally guest lecture at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He died in Las Vegas on May 25, 2022, at the age of 87.
