''The List'' is a 2007 American thriller film directed by Gary Wheeler and based on the novel of the same name by Robert Whitlow. The film was shot in Wilmington, North Carolina. It stars Malcolm McDowell, Chuck Carrington, Hilarie Burton and Will Patton. ''The List'' was released on April 22, 2007, and grossed $138,814 at the US box office. It was released on DVD by 20th Century Fox in 2008. According to a reviewer, the film is part of the Southern Gothic genre. Plot After the American Civil War (1861-1865), a group of Southern plantation owners form a secret society. Their male heirs are inducted into the society. Robert Whitlow is a film-maker and a best-selling author of fifteen legal thrillers. He is also a contributor to a short story ''The Rescuers'', a story included in the book ''What The Wind Picked Up'' by The ChiLibris Ring. In 2001, he won the Christy Award for Contemporary Fiction, for his novel ''The Trial''. His debut novel was made into a movie of the same title, '' The List'', starring Malcolm McDowell. ''The List'' is Rosanne Cash's twelfth studio album, released on Manhattan Records on October 6, 2009, her only album for the label. The album is based on a list of 100 greatest country and American songs that father Johnny Cash gave her when she was 18, to expand her knowledge of country music. The album featured covers of classic songs, and was dedicated to her father Johnny Cash. It also includes guest performances by Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jeff Tweedy and Rufus Wainwright.
