Days Of The New (1999 Album)
''Days of the New'' (also known as the ''Green'' album or ''Days of the New II'') is the second self-titled album of Louisville rock band Days of the New. Released on August 31, 1999, it marks the first album following the break up of the original lineup and the last under Outpost. While not nearly as commercially successful as its 1997 predecessor, ''Green'' acquired stronger appreciation from critics and featured two successful singles. Overview Shortly after finishing their 1998 tour with Metallica and Jerry Cantrell, after much turmoil, the original Days of the New split up. Todd Whitener, Matt Taul, and Jesse Vest would go on to form Tantric while Meeks carried on the Days of the New name. In February 1999, it was reported that while his ex-bandmates were looking for a new singer, Meeks was finishing up work on a second album tentatively titled ''Days of the New 2'' with an expected release in late spring or early summer that year. He eventually formed a new band lineup and ...

The Green Album (Skankin' Pickle Album)
''The Green Album'' is the fourth and final studio album by American ska punk band Skankin' Pickle, released in 1996 on Dr. Strange Records. Commissioned and released by Dr. Strange Records (rather than Skankin' Pickle's own label Dill Records), ''The Green Album'' was originally intended to be a six-song EP of cover songs wherein each member picked and sung a song of their choosing. Eventually the decision was made to expand the EP into a full-length, leading the band to record seven additional songs, all of which were unreleased demos dating back to as far as 1989. According to the liner notes, ''The Green Album'' was recorded and mixed in 30 hours for the cost of $735, recorded on 8 track in the basement where trombonist Lars Nylander and members of ska punk band The Rudiments were living at the time. Founder and vocalist Mike Park announced his departure from Skankin' Pickle in the liner notes of ''The Green Album'', writing "The band has been such a big part of my life bu ...

Green (R
Green is the color between cyan and yellow on the visible spectrum. It is evoked by light which has a dominant wavelength of roughly 495570 nm. In subtractive color systems, used in painting and color printing, it is created by a combination of yellow and cyan; in the RGB color model, used on television and computer screens, it is one of the additive primary colors, along with red and blue, which are mixed in different combinations to create all other colors. By far the largest contributor to green in nature is chlorophyll, the chemical by which plants photosynthesize and convert sunlight into chemical energy. Many creatures have adapted to their green environments by taking on a green hue themselves as camouflage. Several minerals have a green color, including the emerald, which is colored green by its chromium content. During post-classical and early modern Europe, green was the color commonly associated with wealth, merchants, bankers, and the gentry, while red was r ...

One track, "Let It Go", was co-written by Jamieson with Joe Hansen, their bass guitarist, and another track, "Point of View", was written solely by Jamieson. The band was influenced at that time by the nu metal movement, including work by Helmet and Prong. The EP includes an early version of "Sickfest", the song that gave the band a national profile by winning youth broadcaster, Triple J's inaugural Unearthed competition. "Sickfest" was that station's most requested track for seven weeks, and was listed on its Hottest 100 poll for that year. One of the six tracks, "Dr ...

Weezer (Green Album)
''Weezer'' (also known as the ''Green Album'') is the third studio album by American rock band Weezer. It was released on May 15, 2001, by Geffen Records. It was the second Weezer album produced by Ric Ocasek, who produced Weezer (Blue Album), their debut album, and it is the only Weezer album to feature bassist Mikey Welsh, who replaced Matt Sharp. After the disappointing reception for their second album, Pinkerton (album), ''Pinkerton'' (1996), Weezer went on hiatus and the band members worked on side projects. During this time, their fanbase grew online and ''Pinkerton'''s standing improved. After a comeback performance at the Japanese Summer Sonic Festival, Weezer began rehearsing and recording new material. Following the ambitious compositions and confessional themes of ''Pinkerton'', songwriter Rivers Cuomo wrote simpler songs with less personal lyrics. ''Weezer'' received generally favorable reviews. It debuted at number four in the United States, where it has since sold ...

The Green Album (Eddie Jobson Album)
''The Green Album'' is the debut album by English rock musician Eddie Jobson, released by Capitol Records in 1983. It is officially credited to Eddie Jobson and Zinc, Zinc being identified in press releases as a backing band consisting of Michael Cuneo (guitars), Jerry Watts (bass), and Michael Barsimanto (drums); however, none of the members of Zinc played on more than half the songs on the album, and only four tracks feature the entire group. Because of this, ''The Green Album'' is widely regarded as an Eddie Jobson solo album, similarly to how ''Runt'' is considered a Todd Rundgren solo album despite being credited to Runt. Jobson, a former member of Roxy Music, had also previously played with Curved Air, Frank Zappa, U.K., and Jethro Tull. The album contains Jobson's first (and only) lead vocal performances. It also features ex-Gentle Giant guitarist Gary Green on some tracks. The album features a mostly synthesizer based synthpop / progressive rock sound and is a concept al ...

Founded in 1885 as an offshoot of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), the Boston Pops primarily consists of musicians from the BSO, although generally not all of the first-chair players. The orchestra performs a spring season of popular music and a holiday program in December. For the Pops, the seating on the floor of Symphony Hall is reconfigured from auditorium seating to banquet and cafe seating. The Pops also plays an annual concert at the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade every Fourth of July. Their performances of both Tchaikovsky's " 1812 Overture" and Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever" are famous for both Howitzer cannons firing and fireworks exploding (during the 1812 Overture) as well as the unfurling of the American flag that occurs as the song enters "The Stars ...
