Paul Spong
Paul Spong is a Canadian neuroscientist and cetologist from originally from New Zealand. He has been researching orcas (or killer whales) in British Columbia since 1967, and is credited with increasing public awareness of whaling, through his involvement with Greenpeace. Early life Paul Spong was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in 1939. He spent his early life in Whakatane on the north east coast of New Zealand. He studied law and psychology at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch. In 1963 Spong became a graduate student in Dr.Donald Lindsley's Lab in the Psychology Department at UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles]. He also worked in Dr. Ross Adey's Space Biology Lab in UCLA's Brain Research Institute (BRI). His work included computer analyses of human brain wave patterns and tracking information pathways. Spong Hill
Spong Hill is an Anglo-Saxon cemetery site located south of North Elmham in Norfolk, England. It is the largest known Early Anglo-Saxon cremation site. The site consists of a large cremation cemetery and a smaller, 6th century burial cemetery of 57 inhumations. Several of the inhumation graves were covered by small barrows and others were marked by the use of coffins. Extensive excavations of the Early Saxon cemetery and part of the associated settlement revealed evidence of Early Prehistoric occupation on the hill top, dating from the Mesolithic to the Early Bronze Age. Excavation of the Anglo-Saxon cemetery also revealed extensive occupation evidence: late Iron Age and Roman enclosures and field boundaries, an early Roman kiln, and a small settlement of ' sunken huts' and post-hole buildings possibly contemporary with the cemetery. Walter Brookes Spong
Walter Brookes Spong (1851 - 2 March 1929 ) was an English stage and watercolor painter. Spong was born in London. He married Elizabeth Twedle, and their daughter, Hilda (1875–1955), was an actress in theatre and movies, working in Australia, Europe, and America. Spong was a friend of noted Australian artists Tom Roberts, and Arthur Streeton. In 1886, Spong moved to Australia, and became the chief scene painter with the Brough and Boucicault Comedy Company (may have accompanied them to Australia). In 1886, he was one of the founders of the Australian Artists' Association and the Victorian Art Society. In 1898, Spong returned to England. In 1900, he was listed as a stage painter in the records of the Royal Adelphi Theatre of London. Spong died in 1929 in Nice, France. Tyrone Clinton Spong (born 3 September 1985) is a Surinamese-Dutch professional boxer and mixed martial artist and former kickboxer. Sriwhana Spong (born 1979) is an artist and dancer from New Zealand. Spong grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, in a family of Balinese origin. She studied at Elam School of Fine Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2001. Her first exhibitions were in not-for-profit spaces in New Zealand, Australia and Germany. In 2003 she had her first solo show, at the Anna Miles Gallery. Spong also holds a master's degree from Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
