''Rogue Trader: How I Brought Down Barings Bank and Shook the Financial World'' is a book by Nick Leeson, who served four years in prison for fraud after bankrupting the London-based Barings Bank in 1995 by hiding $1.4 billion in debt he accumulated as a derivatives trader in Singapore. The book was released on February 19, 1996, by Little, Brown & Company. Film The book was made into a 1999 feature film of the same name. Following an interview with Nick Leeson in prison, Sir David Frost realized the potential for a movie and optioned the rights to Nick's story. Written and directed by James Dearden, the film stars Ewan McGregor (Nick Leeson) and Anna Friel (Lisa Leeson) and was executive produced by Sir David Frost. Released in June 1999, it premiered in London one month prior to Leeson's release from prison in Singapore. ''Rogue Trader'' was released on 25 June 1999 in the UK and the US. ''Rogue Trader'' is a 1999 British biographical drama film written and directed by James Dearden and starring Ewan McGregor and Anna Friel. The film centers on the life of former derivatives broker Nick Leeson and the 1995 collapse of Barings Bank. It was based on Leeson's 1996 book '' Rogue Trader: How I Brought Down Barings Bank and Shook the Financial World''. Plot ''Rogue Trader'' tells the true story of Nick Leeson, a young employee of Barings Bank who after a successful spell working for the firm's office in Indonesia is sent to Singapore as General Manager of the Trading Floor on the SIMEX exchange. The movie follows Leeson's rise as he soon becomes one of Barings' key traders. Rogue Traders is an Australian electronic rock band formed in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), Victoria in 2002 by mainstay James Ash on keyboards. In 1989, Ash met fellow original member Steve Davis in London while both were working as DJs. Before forming Rogue Traders, the pair had worked together on many projects, including the dance music act Union State, which relocated to Melbourne in 1992. The group's name comes from the 1999 drama film, ''Rogue Trader (film), Rogue Trader''. They were joined in 2004 by soap opera actress, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, on lead vocals, Cameron McGlinchey on drums and Tim Henwood on guitar. Davis continued as a behind-the-scenes member, contributing to the songwriting process but not making any public appearances with the group.
