Pettis Burch Norman is a former professional American football tight end in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers. He played college football at Johnson C. Smith University. Early years Norman was born in Lincolnton, Georgia on January 4, 1939 to Fessor and Elease "Eloise" Norman (née Booker) as the youngest of ten children. He was ten years old when his father died, and his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Biddlesville Elementary School, Northwest Junior High, and West Charlotte High School, where he made the team in his junior season and became a standout starter in his final year. He enlisted in the Air Force but was granted a release before attending boot camp due to a football scholarship offer from Johnson C. Smith University, a Historically Black University, by then coach Eddie McGirt, without ever having seen him play. He was named the starter and team MVP at split end as a freshman. Pettis County is a county located in west central U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 42,201. Its county seat is Sedalia. The county was organized January 24, 1833, and named after former U.S. Representative Spencer Darwin Pettis. Pettis County comprises the Sedalia, MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. The county is home to the site of the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.6%) is water. Pettis Township, Adair County, Missouri
Pettis Township is one of ten townships in Adair County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 795. It is named for former US Congressman Spencer Pettis, who represented Missouri from 1829 to 1831 until being killed in a duel. Geography Pettis Township covers an area of and contains one incorporated settlement, Millard. It contains seven cemeteries: Bragg, Canaday, Indian Hill, Indian Hill (historical), Shaver, Shoemaker and Stukey. The streams of Elm Creek, Goose Creek, Hog Creek, Indian Creek, Sugar Creek and Turkey Run run through this township.
