Mayuri (film)
''Mayuri'' () is a 1985 Indian Telugu-language biographical dance film directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and produced by Ramoji Rao. Based on the life of Sudha Chandran, the film stars her in the titular role while P. L. Narayana, Nirmalamma, Y. Vijaya, Potti Prasad, K. K. Sharma, S. R. Raju and Suthi Veerabhadra Rao played supporting roles. The film was premiered at the 1985 International Film Festival of India. The film was screened retrospectively, during the 2014 International Film Festival of India in ''Celebrating Dance in Indian cinema'' section. The film won 14 Nandi Awards the most by any other Telugu film. It was subsequently dubbed into Malayalam and Tamil as ''Mayoori'' and remade as ''Naache Mayuri'' (1986) in Hindi. Maya (2015 Tamil Film)
''Maya'' is a 2015 Indian Tamil-langauge neo-noir horror film written and directed by Ashwin Saravanan. It was produced by Potential Studios, which features Nayanthara along with Aari Arujunan in the lead roles. Lakshmi Priya and Amzath Khan were in supporting roles. This was Nayanthara's 50th film, and is regarded as one of the best horror films of Tamil cinema. It was one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2015. A dubbed Telugu version, ''Mayuri'', was also released. The film was remade in Kannada as '' Aake'' by K. M. Chaitanya, starring Chiranjeevi Sarja. Mayoori (1983–2005), credited as Shalini in Tamil films, was an Indian actress who appeared in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada films from 1998 to 2005. Mayuri Upadhya
Mayuri Upadhya (born 30 December 1979) is an Indian choreographer, dancer, entrepreneur and TV personality based in Bengaluru, India. She is also the Artistic Director of the Bengaluru-based dance organisation, Nritarutya. In January 2018, Mayuri was voted the Best Choreographer by BroadwayWorld, for the longest running musical in Indian history. Mayuri is the winner of the International Choreography Award, Seoul, Uday Shankar Awards for Choreography, and a Manav Ratna for her contribution to Indian arts and culture, in addition to numerous other awards. is a fictional character in the Bleach anime and manga created by Tite Kubo. He is the current captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13 and overseer of the Soul Reapers' Research and Development Institute. Taus (instrument)
The taus, originally known as the mayuri veena, is a bowed string instrument from North India. It is a form of veena used in North India with a peacock-shaped resonator called a ''mayuri'', and is played with the neck of the instrument on bow. References to the mayuri veena have been found in ''Malavikagnimitra'', written by the Sanskrit poet Kalidasa between the 4th to 5th centuries CE. The name ''taus'' is a Persian translation of the word 'peacock', or ''mayura'' in Sanskrit. It is believed that the taus was being played and adopted by for the Sikhs by Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru of the Sikhs.
