Francis Wayland Parker
Francis Wayland Parker (October 9, 1837March 2, 1902) was a pioneer of the progressive education, progressive school movement in the United States. He believed that education should include the complete development of an individual — mental, physical, and moral. John Dewey called him the "father of progressive education." He worked to create curriculum that centered on the whole child and a strong language background. He was against standardization, isolated drill and rote learning. He helped to show that education was not just about cramming information into students' minds, but about teaching students to think for themselves and become independent people. Biography Parker was born in Bedford, New Hampshire in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, Hillsborough County. This article features an extensive cast of characters from the Nickelodeon animated series ''The Fairly OddParents'', created by Butch Hartman. Main Timmy Turner Timothy Tiberius Turner is a 10-year-old boy who was given fairy godparents to grant his every wish as a result of his neglectful parents and abuse from Vicky. He wears a pink hat and shirt with blue pants. He also has a comically large malocclusion, which is usually mocked. His wishes often have unpredictable and problematic side effects, and are often reverted upon Timmy's request by the end of the episode. His interests include comic books, video games, cartoons, and sports. During a time travel trip, Timmy accidentally arrives the day his parents moved into their house; unseen, he learns that they were expecting a girl, hence his pink hat. Francis Hubert Parker (September 23, 1850 – February 9, 1927) was an American attorney and judge who served as the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut under two presidents. Biography Francis H. Parker was born in East Haddam, Connecticut on September 23, 1850 to Oziah H. and Maria Ayers Parker. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1874 and from Yale Law School in 1876. After graduation he began to practice law in Hartford, Connecticut. He represented East Haddam in the Connecticut General Assembly, General Assembly in 1878 and 1880. He served as the prosecuting attorney for Hartford from 1887 to 1891. He unsuccessfully campaigned for Connecticut State Senate, state senate in 1894 and between 1898 and 1900, he served as a referee in bankruptcy court for the district of Hartford. Frances Mary "Fanny" Parker (24 December 1875 – 19 January 1924) was a New Zealand-born suffragette who became prominent in the militant wing of the Scottish women's suffrage movement and was repeatedly imprisoned for her actions. Early life Born in Little Roderick, Kurow, Otago, New Zealand, she was one of five children of Harry Rainy Parker and his wife, Frances Emily Jane Kitchener. Her family lived at the Waihao Downs Homestead from 1870 to 1895, when they moved to Little Roderick. Little Roderick is a division of Station Peak on the north side of the Waitaki River, Waimate District (not in Kurow, as reported elsewhere). Parker came from a well off background and was a niece of Field-Marshal Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, Lord Kitchener.
