Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band together, only Ryan remains, since Don left the band to take care of his family. As of early 2010, the band has sold over half a million albums. The band's style is known for combining nu metal sounds and qualities with ones heard in metalcore. The name references historic and folkloric demon hunters. History 2000s Demon Hunter was initially conceived as a project band by the Clarks, who had played together previously in the initially Coalesce and Neurosis influenced but later more experimental band Training for Utopia. Ryan had previously played guitar in hardcore band Focal Point, who released an album on Tooth & Nail/Solid State when Ryan was still in his teens. Demon Hunter (comics)
The Demon Hunter, created by David Anthony Kraft and Rich Buckler, is a fictional character, a superhero first featured in ''The Demon Hunter'' #1 (September 1975) from Atlas/Seaboard Comics. The series lasted only one issue due to Atlas Comics going out of business. The character idea was later used by Buckler and Kraft for their "Devil-Slayer" character at Marvel Comics in 1977 and "Bloodwing" for Buckler's magazine ''Galaxia'' in 1980. Fictional character biography The story begins with the sight of a sniper, who has a man named Damian Severs in his sights. The Demon Hunter (Gideon Cross) while masking his presence, sneaks up on the sniper. Gideon recognizes the sniper and recalls serving with him in the armed forces. Before he fires a shot, Gideon materializes and gives the sniper a choice to either face him or throw himself from the cliff. Frightful of his choice, the sniper jumps from the cliff to his death. ''Demon Hunter'' is the debut album by American metalcore band Demon Hunter, released through Solid State in 2002. Recording The album was recorded in Drop C tuning. All of Demon Hunter's subsequent releases would be dropped even lower to Drop B. Industrial vocal elements are also featured in various songs. Touring and promotion The band joined Extol on tour in the summer of 2003. Demon Hunter's first single, "Infected," had a music video which debuted on MTV2's ''Extreme Rock'' and found considerable airplay on Fuse TV's ''Uranium''. The intense video revolves around two subjects; one, vocalist Ryan Clark, is shown using an extravagant dagger to carve the word "HELP" into a tree in the pouring rain. The second subject is a white collared man at a desk who is overcome with extreme panic for ambiguous reasons. He finally falls to the floor after repeatedly typing "help" on his monitor. ''Demon Hunter'' is a 2005 action/horror film written by Mitch Gould and directed by Scott Ziehl. It stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Colleen Porch, William Bassett, Tania Deighton, and Billy Drago.
