''The Dark Mirror'' is a 1920 American silent drama film and horror film directed by Charles Giblyn and written by E. Magnus Ingleton, based upon the story of the same name by Louis Joseph Vance. The film stars Dorothy Dalton in a dual role, Huntley Gordon, Walter D. Nealand, Jessie Arnold, Lucille Carney, Pedro de Cordoba, and Donald MacPherson. The film was released on May 9, 1920, by Paramount Pictures. It is listed as ''Jericho'' in some film reference guides. The film survives. Plot As described in a film magazine, New York society member Priscilla Maine (Dalton) is troubled by strange dreams in which she vividly sees members of the underworld involved in a murder. ''The Dark Mirror'' is a 1946 American film noir psychological thriller film directed by Robert Siodmak starring Olivia de Havilland as twins and Lew Ayres as their psychiatrist. The film marks Ayres' return to motion pictures following his conscientious objection to service in World War II. De Havilland had begun to experiment with method acting at the time and insisted that everyone in the cast meet with a psychiatrist. The film anticipates producer/screenwriter Nunnally Johnson's psycho-docu-drama ''The Three Faces of Eve'' (1957). Vladimir Pozner's original story on which the film is based was nominated for an Academy Award. Plot Dr. Frank Peralta is stabbed to death in his apartment one night. The detective on the case, Lt. Louis Joseph Vance (September 19, 1879 – December 16, 1933) was an American novelist, screenwriter and film producer. He created the popular character Michael Lanyard, a criminal-turned-detective known as The Lone Wolf. Biography Louis Joseph Vance was born September 19, 1879, in Washington, D. C., the only child of Wilson J. Vance, a Medal of Honor recipient, and Lillian Beall Vance. He was educated at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Vance was married to Anne Elizabeth Hodges on February 19, 1898. Their son, Wilson Beall Vance, was born in 1900. He wrote short stories and verse after 1901, then composed many popular novels. Basil Frederick Albert Copper (5 February 1924 – 3 April 2013) was an English writer and former journalist and newspaper editor. Barton David Gellman (born 1960) is an American author and journalist known for his reports on September 11 attacks, on Dick Cheney's vice presidency and on the global surveillance disclosure. Beginning in June 2013, he authored ''The Washington Post''s coverage of the U.S. National Security Agency, based on top secret documents provided to him by ex-NSA contractor Edward Snowden.
