Meteorite Fall
A meteorite fall, also called an observed fall, is a meteorite collected after its fall from outer space was observed by people or automated devices. Any other meteorite is called a "find". There are more than 1,100 documented falls listed in widely used databases, most of which have specimens in modern collections. , the Meteoritical Bulletin Database had 1211 confirmed falls. Importance Observed meteorite falls are important for several reasons. Material from observed falls has not been subjected to terrestrial weathering, making the find a better candidate for scientific study. Historically, observed falls were the most compelling evidence supporting the extraterrestrial origin of meteorites. Furthermore, observed fall discoveries are a better representative sample of the types of meteorites which fall to Earth. For example, iron meteorites take much longer to weather and are easier to identify as unusual objects, as compared to other types. This may explain the increas ...

Bori (religion)
Hausa animism , "Maguzanci" or Bori is a pre-Islamic traditional religion of the Hausa people of West Africa that involves magic and spirit possession. Most of the adherents of the religion accepted Islam after the 18th century Jihad by the Islamic reformer Usman dan Fodio. Terminology ''Bòòríí'' is a Hausa noun, meaning the spiritual force that resides in physical things, and is related to the word for local distilled alcohol (''borassa'') as well the practice of medicine (''boka''). The Bori religion is both an institution to control these forces, and the performance of an " adorcism" (as opposed to exorcism) ritual, dance and music by which these spirits are controlled and by which illness is healed. Pre-Islamic Hausaland An aspect of the traditional Maguzawa Hausa people's religious traditions, Bori became a state religion led by ruling-class priestesses among some of the late precolonial Hausa Kingdoms. When Islam started making inroads into Hausa land in the 14th cent ...

Bori (food)
Bori ( bn, বড়ি) is a form of dried lentil dumplings popular in Bengali cuisine. It is made from a paste of urad dal and winter melon which is sun-dried for 3–5 days. Once fully dried, it can easily last for about a year. Recipe The paste is laid out by hand on a mat in the sunlight. It sticks to the mat while wet but when the bori dries completely it can easily come off. In its simplest form bori takes the conical shape naturally occurring due to the way the paste is laid out. Intricate artistic designs can also made with the paste when squeezed out through a piping bag. This is called ''naksha bori''. It is also called ''gohona bori'' or ''gayna bori'' because the designs often look like those of jewellery (gahana or gayna is Bengali for jewellery). To avoid breaking ''naksha bori'' when removing from the mat, a layer of poppy seeds is spread before laying the paste. The district of Purba Medinipur is famous for its ''naksha bori''. Preparing bori is almost exclusi ...
