Zygmunt Ginter
Zygmunt Ginter (12 March 1916 – 1 March 1964) was a Polish ice hockey player. He played for Ognisko Wilno and Legia Warsaw (ice hockey), Legia Warsaw during his career. He also played for the Poland men's national ice hockey team, Polish national team at the 1948 Winter Olympics. He replaced Tadeusz Dolewski on the Olympic team right before the start of the tournament for reasons never made clear; it was only apparent that the switch was made some 50 years later, and Dolewski was listed as a participant in the Olympics, not Ginter. Legia Warszawa (), commonly referred to as Legia Warsaw or simply Legia, is a professional football club based in Warsaw, Poland. The 1948 Winter Olympics, officially known as the V Olympic Winter Games (german: V. Legia Warsaw ( pl, Legia Warszawa) was an ice hockey team in Warsaw, Poland. Formerly a top-level team in the country, they most recently played in the second-level of Polish hockey, the Polish 1. The Poland national men's ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Poland, and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. They are ranked 21st in the world in the IIHF World Rankings, but prior to the 1980s they were ranked as high as 6th internationally. They are one of eight countries never to have played below the Division I (former B Pool) level. Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring.
