Zwolle Railway Station
Zwolle is the main railway station of Zwolle in Overijssel, Netherlands. The station opened on 6 June 1864 and is on the Utrecht–Kampen railway, also known as the ''Centraalspoorweg'', the Zwolle–Almelo railway, the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway, the Zwolle–Stadskanaal railway and the Lelystad–Zwolle railway, also known as the ''Hanzelijn''. The station is a major hub for the Northern Netherlands. It is the only way trains can get from the north of the country, to any other region of the Netherlands. ZwolleSpoort On 31 August 2010, the principal stakeholders in the railway station—ProRail, Nederlandse Spoorwegen and the municipality of Zwolle—started the ''ZwolleSpoort'' project. Zwolle
Zwolle () is a city and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Overijssel and the province's second-largest municipality after Enschede with a population of 130,592 as of 1 December 2021. Zwolle is on the border with Gelderland, which follows the river IJssel, and is located about 50 km north east of Utrecht and 85 km south west of Groningen. The current Mayor of Zwolle is Lorenzo Brands. History Archaeological findings indicate that the area surrounding Zwolle has been inhabited for a long time. A woodhenge that was found in the Zwolle-Zuid suburb in 1993 was dated to the Bronze Age period. During the Roman era, the area was inhabited by Salian Franks. Deventer Railway Station
Deventer (; Sallands: ) is a city and municipality in the Salland historical region of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020, Deventer had a population of 100,913. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but it also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country. Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The place is already mentioned in 9th-century sources of the Diocese of Utrecht. Kampen Railway Station
Kampen is a terminus railway station located in Kampen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 10 May 1865 and is located on the Kamperlijntje, which is the Zwolle-Kampen section of the Utrecht–Kampen railway. The train service is operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. A 2005 survey showed approximately 5,064 people use this station per day. Kampen now has two railway stations, since on 9 December 2012 the Hanzelijn was opened, creating a rail link between Lelystad and Zwolle via Dronten and Kampen. A new railway station Kampen Zuid connects Kampen with Dronten, Lelystad, Almere and Amsterdam to the west, and Zwolle to the east. The old line from Kampen to Zwolle is currently being transformed into a light rail service, with an additional stop in northern Zwolle and a higher frequency (3x per hour). Meppel Railway Station
Meppel is a railway station in Meppel, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 October 1867 and is on the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway and Meppel–Groningen railway. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. History The building was constructed in 1867 according to a standardised layout by the State Railways, namely the revised "third class". The classical design probably comes from Karel Hendrik van Brederode, who also designed several other models for the State Railways. Meppel station was renovated in 1982, which mainly involved the station's interior. It became a national heritage site on 28 January 1998.
