Zuzana Čaputová
Zuzana Čaputová, (; Strapáková; born 21 June 1973) is a Slovak politician, lawyer and environmental activist. She is the fifth president of Slovakia, a position she has held since 15 June 2019. Čaputová is the first woman to hold the presidency, as well as the youngest president in the history of Slovakia, elected at the age of 45. Čaputová first became known by prevailing in a decade-long struggle against the situating of a toxic landfill in her hometown of Pezinok. For this, Čaputová was awarded the 2016 Goldman Environmental Prize. She won the 2019 Slovak presidential election with 58% of the vote in the run-off. Progressive Slovakia
Progressive Slovakia ( sk, Progresívne Slovensko) is a social-liberal, progressive, pro-European political party in Slovakia established in 2017. The party is led by European Parliament vice-president Michal Šimečka. In the European Parliament, the party is a member of the Renew Europe group and is a full member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party. Peter Pellegrini
Peter Pellegrini (; born 6 October 1975) is a Slovak politician who served as the prime minister of Slovakia from 2018 to 2020 and Minister of Health from December 2019 to March 2020. He previously served as deputy prime minister (2016–2018) and minister for Education and Science (2014), as well as spending two years as speaker of the National Council (2014–2016). Pellegrini had been a member of Direction – Social Democracy until he left the party and founded Voice – Social Democracy in late June 2020. Next Slovak Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Slovakia in March and April 2024. Incumbent president Zuzana Čaputová announced in June 2023 that she would not run for a second term. In the first round held on 23 March, Ivan Korčok led with 42.5% of the votes followed by Peter Pellegrini with 37%. As no candidate received a majority, a runoff was scheduled between the two on 6 April. However, in the second round, Pellegrini defeated Korčok with 53.1% of the vote. He will be sworn in as president on 15 June. Murder Of Ján Kuciak
Ján Kuciak (17 May 1990 – 21 February 2018) was a Slovak investigative journalist. Kuciak worked as a reporter for the news website Aktuality.sk, focused mainly on investigating tax fraud of several businessmen with connections to top-level Slovak politicians. He and his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová, were shot dead in February 2018 in their home in Veľká Mača, Galanta District, Slovakia. Robert Mistrík (, born 13 August 1966) is a Slovak chemist, scientist, businessman, and politician. Early life Mistrík was born on 13 August 1966 in Banská Bystrica. He attended Gymnázium Jozefa Gregora Tajovského in Banská Bystrica.
