Zora Petrović
Zora Petrović (Dobrica, May 17, 1894 – Belgrade, May 25, 1962) was a Serbian painter. Her notable works can be seen in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, and in Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection in Novi Sad. Biography She attended a high school in Pančevo from 1907 to 1909. In 1912 she enrolled at the Belgrade Arts and Crafts School, where Milan Milovanović, Đorđe Jovanović and Marko Murat were her teachers. She studied painting in Budapest under professor Lajos Deák Ébner, and took part in the courses of professors Pál Szinyei Merse and Istvan Reti of the Barbizon in Nagybanya artists' colony and school, considered very influential in Hungarian and Romanian art. The period from 1915 to 1919 was spent as a student at the Hungarian Royal Drawing School and Art Teachers' College (what became the Hungarian University of Fine Arts) under the guidance of professor Lajos Deák Ébner. Dobrica
Dobrica () is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Alibunar municipality, in the South Banat District, Vojvodina province. The village has a Serb ethnic majority and a population of 1,344 people according to the 2002 census. Name In Serbian, the village is known as ''Dobrica'' (Добрица), in German as ''Dobritza'', and in Hungarian as ''Kevedobra''. Barbizon () is a commune (town) in the Seine-et-Marne department in north-central France. It is located near the Fontainebleau Forest. Demographics The inhabitants are called ''Barbizonais''. Mladen Josić
Mladen Josić (15 July 1897, Bečej - 1 October 1972, Paris) was a Serbian painter. He had his own ''atelier'' in Belgrade where art students came to hone their skills, many becoming renowned academic painters and sculptors. Biography Mladen Josić was born in Bečej on 15 July 1897. His family were from Opovo in Banat. In 1920. he studied in Académie de la Grande Chaumière under Antoine Bourdelle. On return to Yugoslavia architect Dragiša Brašovan builds an atelier for him. Josić paints portraits of king Peter I of Serbia and king Alexander I of Yugoslavia. In 1937. Josić opened his own art school within Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment, from which many artists have emerged, including Mladen Srbinović, Matija Vuković, Stojan Ćelić, Majda Kurnik, Miodrag B. Protić, Zora Petrović and many others. An atelier () is the private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts or an architect, where a principal master and a number of assistants, students, and apprentices can work together producing fine art or visual art released under the master's name or supervision. Ateliers were the standard vocational practice for European artists from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, and common elsewhere in the world. André Lhote
André Lhote (5 July 1885 – 24 January 1962) was a French Cubist painter of figure subjects, portraits, landscapes and still life. He was also active and influential as a teacher and writer on art. Early life and education Lhote was born 5 July 1885 in Bordeaux, France, and learned wood carving and sculpture from the age of 12, when his father apprenticed him to a local furniture maker to be trained as a sculptor in wood. He enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux in 1898 and studied decorative sculpture until 1904. Whilst there, he began to paint in his spare time and he left home in 1905, moving into his own studio to devote himself to painting. He was influenced by Gauguin and Cézanne and held his first one-man exhibition at the Galerie Druet in 1910, four years after he had moved to Paris.
