Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. For instance, in the 2010 census, Zone 69 was transferred to Al Daayen Municipality, Zones 50 and 58 were added to Ad-Dawhah Municipality, and part of Zone 74 was merged with Zone 70 of Al Daayen Municipality. Unitary State
A unitary state is a sovereign state governed as a single entity in which the central government is the supreme authority. The central government may create (or abolish) administrative divisions (sub-national units). Such units exercise only the powers that the central government chooses to delegate. Although political power may be delegated through devolution to regional or local governments by statute, the central government may abrogate the acts of devolved governments or curtail (or expand) their powers. Mushayrib
Mushayrib ( ar, مشيرب; also spelled Musheireb) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. As of the 2010 census, the former district of Al Asmakh has been integrated into Mushayrib. It is one of the oldest districts of Doha, and contains Al Kahraba Street (also called Electricity Street), the country's first fully lit street. History In J. G. Lorimer's ''Gazetteer of the Persian Gulf'' first published in 1908, Mushayrib was described as a place where the town of Al Bidda obtained its water supply from, but described the water as brackish and scanty. Lorimer noted that it appeared to accommodate one of the only seven sizable date palm plantations in Qatar. The majority of Mushayrib's residents are expat workers. Old Al Hitmi
Old Al Hitmi ( ar, الهتمي العتيق; also known as Al-Hitmi Al-Ateeq or simply Al Hitmi) is a mixed-use district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. The name is derived from Al-Hitmi family, which is a branch of the main Al Bin Ali tribe. Together with Al Rufaa, it forms Zone 17, which has a population of 6,028. History The district was first settled around 1930 by the Al Hitmi family, a branch of the Al Bin Ali tribe. Most residential units here date back to the early-to-mid 20th century. As a result of many years of neglect, most of the older buildings have fallen into varying states of disrepair. Al Rufaa ( ar, الرفاع) is a neighborhood of Doha, Qatar. Ad Dawhah al Jadidah ( ar, الدوحة الجديدة) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. Fereej Abdel Aziz
Fereej Abdel Aziz ( ar, فريج عبد العزيز, Farīq ‘Abd al ‘Azīz) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. Rumeilah ( ar, اَلرُّمَيْلَة, Ar Rumaylah; also spelled Rumaila) is a neighborhood of Doha, Qatar. It is divided into an eastern and western section. Wadi Al Sail
Wadi Al Sail ( ar, وادي السيل, Wādī as Sayl) is a neighborhood of Doha, Qatar. The area has undergone much renovation and development in recent years. As its name suggests, the original settlement was built in a wadi. Al Souq ( ar, السوق, As Sūq; also spelled As Sawq) is a commercial district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Doha. It was named for its high density of souqs (markets) in the southern section of the district. Old Al Ghanim ( ar, الغانم العتيق) is a neighborhood of Doha, the capital of Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. It forms a part of Doha's historic downtown.
