Zhytomyrska (Kyiv Metro)
Zhytomyrska ( ua, Житомирська, ) is a Kyiv Metro station on Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line. The station was opened on 24 May 2003 as part of the westward extension of the Sviatoshynsky radius along with its neighbour Akademmistechko. Designed by the architects V.Gnevyshev, T.Tselikovskaya and N.Aleshkin, the station was the first on the line to be built to a single-vault design "walls in earth", i.e. where the walls of the station pit are incorporated into the design, and the main vault rests on top of them, thus saving time and resources for construction. In its decoration, marble is used on the walls (white and red) and on the floor. Lighting comes from suspended fluorescent tubes, and the station features catamaran-style rises on the walls where the station name is displayed. Presently the station is the most westwards on the main Peremohy Avenue, and is only a few kilometres from Kyiv's circular motorway separating the city and Kyiv Oblast. The avenue then become ... Sviatoshynskyi District
Sviatoshynskyi Raion ( uk, Святошинський район, ''Sviatoshynskyi Raion'') is an urban district in the city of Kyiv located at the western part of city. The district was created in 2001 after renaming the former Leningrad District. It borders four other districts in Kyiv such as Podilskyi District, Obolonskyi District, Solomianskyi District, Shevchenkivskyi District as well as Bucha Raion that administratively is part of Kyiv Oblast. It takes its name from the historical neighbourhood of Sviatoshyn, named for the 12th century Prince Mykola Sviatosha. Kyiv Metro
The Kyiv Metro ( uk, Ки́ївський метрополіте́н, Kyivskyi metropoliten, ) is a rapid transit system in Kyiv that is owned by the Kyiv City Council and operated by the city-owned company Kyivsky Metropoliten''.'' It was initially opened on November 6th, 1960, as a single line with five stations. It was the first rapid transit system in Ukraine and the third in the Soviet Union, after the Moscow and St. Petersburg metros. Today, the system consists of three lines and 52 stations, located throughout Kyiv's ten raion (districts), and operates of routes, with used for revenue service and for non-revenue service. Akademmistechko (Kyiv Metro)
Akademmistechko ( uk, Академмiстечко, ) is a station on Kyiv Metro's Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line. The station is the western terminus of the line and was opened on May 24, 2003 as part of the western extension of the Sviatoshynsky radius. The station is a bi-level pillar-trispan, with two balconies on the top level. Named after the nearby laboratories (literally Academical town) of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, and test centres, the station's design (Architects V. Gnevyshev, T. Tselikovskaya, N. Aleshkin and S. Krushinsky) is based on scientific themes. The lighting for instance consists of several chandeliers, arranged in an organic element layout with the actual lamps acting as atoms. Overall the colour tone of the station is pale white from the marble used in coating with additional yellow tints on the hemispherical balconies and the staircases. Kyiv Oblast ( uk, Ки́ївська о́бласть, translit=Kyïvska oblast), also called Kyivshchyna ( uk, Ки́ївщина), is an oblast (province) in central and northern Ukraine. It surrounds, but does not include, the city of Kyiv, which is a self-governing city with special status. The administrative center of the oblast is in Kyiv city, the capital of Ukraine, despite the city not being part of the oblast. European Route E40
European route E40 is the longest European route, more than long, connecting Calais in France via Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan, with Ridder in Kazakhstan near the border with Russia and China. A different route connecting Calais and Ridder is about shorter, mostly using the E30 via Berlin-Moscow-Omsk. Zhytomyr ( uk, Жито́мир, translit=Zhytomyr ; russian: Жито́мир, Zhitomir ; pl, Żytomierz ; yi, זשיטאָמיר, Zhitomir; german: Schytomyr ) is a city in the north of the western half of Ukraine.
