Zhu Dake
Zhu Dake (; born in 1957) is a Chinese scholar, cultural critic and essayist. He was born in Shanghai and his family was originally from Wuping, Fujian Province. He was educated in the department of Chinese language of East China Normal University and then was awarded a PhD in University of Technology, Sydney in Australia. He has also been a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney. Rising to prominence in the mid-1980s, he was an important spokesman of the avant-garde culture. As a professor at Tongji University, working in its graduate school of cultural criticism, he is now engaged in the study and criticism of Chinese culture. He is considered adept in expressing his rational knowledge and determination toward the maintenance and development of the current culture with his advanced and sharp thoughts as well as his unique style of language. François Cheng
François Cheng (; born 30 August 1929) is a Chinese-born French academician, writer, poet, and calligrapher. He is the author of essays, novels, collections of poetry and books on art written in the French language, and the translator of some of the great French poets into Chinese. Biography Born in Nanchang, Jiangxi in 1929, Cheng traveled to France in 1948 on a study grant at the age of nineteen. Wang Xiaohui (; born August 1962) is a Chinese politician who is the current party secretary of Sichuan, in office since April 2022. Previously he served as director of the National Film Administration and deputy head of the Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party. Yu Qiuyu
Yu Qiuyu (余秋雨 in Chinese) (born 23 August 1946) is a Chinese writer and scholar. Life Yu was born in Qiaotou Town (), Cixi County (formerly Yuyao County), Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on August 23, 1946. He finished his elementary school in his hometown. In 1963, he was admitted to the Department of Drama and Literature of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. After entering the school, he participated in agricultural labor. In 1966, when the "Cultural Revolution" disaster occurred, the family broke. His father, Mr. Yu Xuewen, was detained for ten years for being accused of “false remarks” and the family’s economic source was cut off; the only uncle who was able to help him, Mr. Yu Zhishi, was persecuted to death by the rebels. Li Ao (, also spelled Lee Ao; 25 April 1935 – 18 March 2018) was a Chinese writer, social commentator, historian and independent politician based in Taiwan. Li has been called one of the most important modern East Asian essayists today; his critics have called him as an intellectual narcissist.
