Zhang Dan (badminton)
Zhang Dan (; born 16 January 1982) is a Chinese badminton player and in 2008 she started representing Macau. Career Zhang was specialized in women's doubles and mixed doubles, earning numerous international titles in both events. At the 2005 World Championships tournament she took a bronze in women's doubles with Zhang Yawen. At the 2007 Summer Universiade she took a silver medal with the Chinese mixed team and two individual bronze medals in women's doubles with Wang Lin and in mixed doubles with Chen Hong. She reached nine finals at Grand Prix events in women's doubles between 2003 and 2006, winning three events with Zhang Yawen, the 2004 Thailand Open & German Open and the 2005 Singapore Open. In 2007, she became the women's doubles semifinalist of the Korea International Challenge tournament partnered with Zhang Zhibo. German Open (badminton)
The German Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Germany since 1955 (as West Germany) and organized by German Badminton Association or Deutscher Badminton Verband (DBV). The tournaments were not held in the year 1970, 1979 and 1998. Known as German Badminton Championships until 1980, the tournament was later allowed to be known as Open Championships from 1981 on. The tournament is currently sponsored by Yonex. While it does attract professional players, the event is not part of the highest levels of Badminton World Federation tournaments – being classified as a BWF Grand Prix Gold event until 2017, and a Super 300 tournament (6th level) from 2018 on. 2008 Olympic Games
The 2008 Summer Olympics (), officially the Games of the XXIX Olympiad () and also known as Beijing 2008 (), were an international multisport event held from 8 to 24 August 2008, in Beijing, China. Wang Xiaoli
Wang Xiaoli (; born 24 June 1989) is a Chinese badminton player who is a doubles specialist. In 2012, she competed at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Career In 2005, she joined the Chinese national second team and officially became the first team in 2008. Wang Xiaoli began her international career in 2009 when she paired with Tao Jiaming in mixed doubles and with Ma Jin in women's doubles. She quickly gained success with Ma Jin and culminated their career with a gold medal at the 2009 Asia Championships. In the middle of the 2010 season, Wang Xiaoli dropped mixed doubles from her repertoire of events and began competing in women's doubles with Yu Yang. Despite their short time together, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang have reached the number one ranking in the world for their event. Ma Jin
Ma Jin (; born 7 May 1988) is a badminton player from China who specialises in women's and mixed doubles. She partnered Wang Xiaoli in women's doubles and excelled in the category until 2010 when both players are split after China failed to defend their Uber Cup against South Korea in Kuala Lumpur. Consequently, Ma Jin was unable to continue competing in the women's doubles event without her regular partner and she had to concentrate on mixed doubles instead. Ma Jin had tasted successes in mixed with several partners, notably Zheng Bo, He Hanbin and Xu Chen. Her domination at the front of the court combined with the power play from Xu Chen made them one of the most dominant Chinese pairs to date, the other being Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei. Zhao Yunlei (born 25 August 1986) is a mixed and women's doubles badminton player from China. She graduated with a BA from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the mixed and women's doubles categories in 2012.
