Zgornja Lipnica () is a settlement in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. Name The name ''Zgornja Lipnica'' literally means 'upper Lipnica', distinguishing the village from neighboring Spodnja Lipnica (literally, 'lower Lipnica'), which stands at an elevation lower. The name ''Lipnica'', like related names (e.g., ''Lipa'', '' Lipnik'', '' Lipovec'', etc.), is derived from the Slovene common noun ''lipa'' ' linden', referring to the local vegetation. History An elevation known as ''Pusti Grad'' ('abandoned castle'; elevation ) stands about north-northwest of the center of Zgornja Lipnica.
