Zekeriya Güçlü
Zekeriya Güçlü was a Turkish freestyle wrestler competing in the 125 division. He won the gold medal at the 1997 World Wrestling Championships. Wrestling career Zekeriya Güçlü was born in Bulgaria as a member of the Turkish minority. There he also took up wrestling as a youth and became a member of the Bulgarian national youth team in the free style. During a competition in Hungary, he took refuge in the Turkish consulate in Budapest and came to Turkey this way. In Turkey he became a member of the Istanbul Gemi Sanayi Spor Kulübü wrestling club and later of the Gebze Belediye Spor Kulübü club, where he was trained by D. Turan and İsmail Nizamoğlu. He was already a full-grown heavyweight at a young age, weighing close to 130 kg at a height of 1.80 metres. Razgrad
Razgrad ( bg, Разград ) is a city in Northeastern Bulgaria in the valley of the Beli Lom river that falls within the historical and geographical region of Ludogorie (Deliorman). It is an administrative center of Razgrad Province. Etymology The suffix "grad" means city in Bulgarian, while the origin and the meaning of the first part "raz" is obscure. During the Second Bulgarian Empire, around the present city there was a settlement, mentioned by the names of ''Hrasgrad'', ''Hrazgrad'' and ''Hrizgrad. These names come from the name of the Bulgar and Slavic god Hors. History Razgrad was built upon the ruins of the Ancient Roman town of Abritus on the banks of the Beli Lom river. Abritus was built on a Thracian settlement of the 4th-5th century BC of unknown name. Aydın Polatçı
Aydın Polatçı (born 15 May 1977) is a Turkish wrestler. He was born in Istanbul. He was Olympic bronze medalist in Freestyle wrestling in 2004. He also competed at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics. Wrestling career Aydın Polatçı grew up in his birthplace and took up wrestling there in 1993, having previously competed in the Turkish national sport of oil wrestling. He became a heavyweight at 1.90 metres tall and around 125 kg in body weight. After his first successes at junior level, he became a member of the Aski Ankara wrestling club, where Mehmet Polatçı became his coach. Aydın Polatçı preferred the free style throughout his career. He only competed in the Greco-Roman style twice at military world championships. Mahmut Demir
Mahmut Demir (21 January 1970 in Amasya, Turkey), is a former Turkish Olympic, World and European champion sports in the super heavyweight class. He won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Men's Freestyle wrestling. Wrestling career He was born on 21 January 1970 in Suluova district of Amasya Province in northern Turkey. Demir started wrestling in 1984. In a short time he developed into an excellent freestyle wrestler who soon moved to the top Turkish club "TEDAS" Ankara.
