Zegel (Antwerp Premetro Station)
Zegel is a station on the Antwerp premetro network, opened on 18 April 2015. It lies under the Turnhoutsebaan near the crossing with the Sint-Jansstraat, in the Borgerhout district and is served by tram routes 8 and 10. Current situation It is the last station in the eastern premetro tunnel before it splits into a northern and a more southerly trajectory. The station consequently has two 60-metre long platforms, lying one above the other, the deeper of which is for outward trams, away from the city centre. The station can be entered by a 200-metre long entrance hall, and two above-ground entrances, one near the Zegelstraat crossing, the other near the Sint-Janstraat crossing. De Lijn
Vlaamse Vervoersmaatschappij De Lijn (English: Flemish transport company ''De Lijn''), usually known as De Lijn (, "The Line"), is a company run by the Flemish government in Belgium to provide public transportation with about 2240 buses and 399 trams. De Lijn was founded in 1991 after the public transportation companies of Antwerp and Ghent fused with the Flemish part of the NMVB (Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen, or the "National Company of Neighborhood Railways"). Socialist politician Steve Stevaert of Hasselt implemented a policy allowing registered residents in Flanders aged 65+ to ride anywhere in Flanders free. Antwerp Pre-metro
The Antwerp Premetro is a network consisting of lines 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 15 of the Antwerp Tram system. It is a metre gauge system which runs underground in the city centre and further out on surface lines, which are mostly separated from motor vehicle traffic. The network is operated by De Lijn. History The network was planned at the beginning of the 1970s to become a fully underground network similar to the Brussels Metro or German Stadtbahnen (light railways), with a length of 15 km and comprising 22 stations. Borgerhout () is the smallest district of Antwerp, Belgium. , the district houses 45,769 inhabitants on 3,93 km². It was an independent municipality until January 1983. The postal area code for Borgerhout is 2140. Geography Borgerhout is divided into two parts by a highway and the historical walls. The part inside those walls is "intra muros," meaning (within the walls). It is built around a big boulevard, the Turnhoutsebaan. The Turnhoutsebaan is the biggest shopping street, offering both food and clothing, in both Belgian and foreigner's stores. Tram Route 8 (Antwerp)
Tram route 8 is a tram route in Antwerp and nearby Wommelgem. The present day route was opened on 8 December 2019 connecting the Astrid (Antwerp premetro station), Astrid Antwerp Pre-metro, premetro station with the Wommelgem Roundabout (Dutch: "''Rond punt van Wommelgem''") P+R. The route was the first to use the newly opened premetro tunnel under Borgerhout, called thReuzenpijp which begins at Astrid station and comes above ground just before the Muggenberg stop. It is promoted as a "fast tram" (''sneltram'') route, as most stations in the premetro tunnel have not (yet) been opened, allowing a 15-minute connection between the city center and the Wommelgem P+R. Tram Route 10 (Antwerp)
Tram Route 10 (briefly Tram Route 11) is a tram route in Antwerp and nearby Wijnegem. Tram route 10 entered operation in 1873, making it one of the oldest tram routes still active in Antwerp, next to Tram route 4 (Antwerp), Tram Route 4 (Antwerp) and :nl:Tramlijn 7 (Antwerpen), Tram Route 7 (Antwerp). The current/present day route was opened on June 2, 2017 connecting the Astrid (Antwerp premetro station), Astrid Antwerp Pre-metro, Pre-metro station, Antwerp South and P+R Schoonselhof in Hoboken, Antwerp, Hoboken with Wijnegem. Hilde Urbanie Julia Crevits (born 28 June 1967, in Torhout) is a Belgian politician from Flanders and member of the Christian Democratic and Flemish party who is currently the Flemish minister of Economy, Innovation, Work, Social economy and Agriculture.
