Zebrahead
Zebrahead is an American rap-punk band from La Habra, California. Formed in 1996, the band has released thirteen studio albums to date. History 1996–2001: Formation and early years Zebrahead was formed in La Habra, California in summer 1996 by guitarist Greg Bergdorf and drummer Ed Udhus, (both formerly of the band 409), bassist Ben Osmundson (formerly of 3-Ply) and singer/rhythm guitarist Justin Mauriello (formerly of Once There). All four musicians, whose bands at the time shared the same practice space, became acquainted with one another after experimenting with different music styles together. This led to all four leaving their respective bands and forming their own and naming it Zebrahead. Inspired by bands such as Fugazi and Descendents and uninterested in the local musical trends of the time, Zebrahead began experimenting and incorporating elements of hip-hop into their sound, leading to the inclusion of rapper Ali Tabatabaee as a co-vocalist. ''MFZB'' (abbreviation of ''Motherfucking Zebrahead, Bitch'') is the fourth studio album released by American punk rock band Zebrahead. "Rescue Me" was released to radio on January 20, 2004. The title of the album originally comes from the band's fanclub of the same name. The first 1,000 copies of the CD release of it were made available in four different colors; red, yellow, green and blue, with blue being the official color with later copies. The songs "Falling Apart" and "Alone" were featured in the video game, ''WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw'' and its GameCube counterpart, ''WWE Day of Reckoning''. Ali Tabatabaee
Ali Tabatabaee () is an Iranian-American musician who is one of two main vocalists in the American band Zebrahead. Background Before joining Zebrahead, Tabatabaee was a pre-med student at UC Irvine majoring in Biology and minoring in Theater. After graduating, he decided to take a year off from school to take the MCAT and to apply to medical school. It was during this time that he started singing with the other members of Zebrahead. After a year away from school he was accepted into the University of Chicago Medical School. However, due to Zebrahead's early success, he deferred acceptance for one year. ''Zebrahead'', more commonly known as ''Yellow'' or ''The Yellow Album'', is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Zebrahead. The songs "Check" and "Hate" are both re-recorded from their One More Hit demo tape released two years prior in 1996. Most of the songs on the album would end up re-recorded later and released as part of the band's follow-up and first mainstream album, ''Waste of Mind''. The song "Check" would therefore end up re-recorded twice so far. Singles "Check" is the only known single from the album and was accompanied by a music video. It was also featured in the soundtrack of the skateboarding video game ''Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3.'' Justin Mauriello (born 1975) is the lead singer and guitarist for the alternative rock band Darling Thieves, and former guitarist and founding member of punk rock band Zebrahead. Musical career Zebrahead (1996–2004) Mauriello was a founding member of the band Zebrahead, with lead guitarist Greg Bergdorf and drummer Ed Udhus (both formerly of the band 409), and bassist Ben Osmundson (formerly of the band 3-Ply); they began collaboration through sharing the same rehearsal space, forming Zebrahead to incorporate musical elements of ska-punk and hip-hop, while recruiting rapper Ali Tabatabaee. Matty Lewis is an American musician, primarily known for his work as the rhythm guitarist and vocalist of punk rock band Zebrahead from 2005 to 2021. Jank 1000 Jank 1000 was a suburban pop punk band originally formed in late 1998, in the suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska. The band's original lineup consisted of Matty Lewis on lead vocals and guitar, bassist Danny Isgro and drummer Jake Horrocks. The band were known for their combined catchy, hook filled songs with clever and intelligent lyrics. Jank 1000 initially started as a garage band in 1997 called "Formula One". Lewis and his two previous bandmates (Mike Haddock and Chris Bowen) played primarily at frat parties and street dances, almost always for free. Dan Palmer (born August 14, 1978), who is originally from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, is an English guitarist and now lives in Whittier, California, United States. He is the lead guitarist of the bands Death By Stereo (since Oct 1999) and Zebrahead (since 2013). He has been using Fernandes guitars for a very long time. Biography He was formerly the guitarist for a hardcore punk band called ''Eyelid'', which was formed in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1994. He joined the band in 1996 but they broke up in 1999. In the same year, Keith Barney, who was the guitarist of a hardcore punk band, Death by Stereo, left the band, so Dan took over Keith's place as the lead guitarist. ''Get Back'' is a song by American punk rock band Zebrahead from their second and major label debut album ''Waste of Mind'' which was released on 1998. When the song was released it became a minor hit on the radio and charted #32 on the US Modern Rock Tracks. Man with a Mission, stylized as MAN WITH A MISSION or sometimes as MWAM, is a Japanese rock band which was formed in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, in 2010. The band currently consists of five band members, with stage names of Tokyo Tanaka (vocals, leader), Jean-Ken Johnny (guitar, vocals, rap), Kamikaze Boy (bass guitar, backing vocals), DJ Santa Monica (DJ, sampling) and Spear Rib (drums). Darling Thieves
Darling Thieves, formerly known as I Hate Kate, is an American alternative rock band from Huntington Beach, California, United States. The band was formed in November 2004 by former Zebrahead frontman Justin Mauriello. History Justin Mauriello started I Hate Kate in 2004, while still in Zebrahead, as a creative outlet. The band has seen a steady rise in success. I Hate Kate played with bands such as Social Distortion, Chevelle, Hot Hot Heat, The Bravery, The Living End, My Chemical Romance, Unwritten Law, Secondhand Serenade, and Shiny Toy Guns. Tours have taken them throughout the U.S., Canada, and Japan. In December 2007, the band with record producer Mark Trombino recorded new songs and remixed previous tracks. Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band from Orange County, California. The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold-certified album ''Turn the Radio Off''. Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground cult following. As of 2006, the band was no longer signed to a major record label and has since been independent.
