Zdzisław Krasnodębski (sociologist)
Zdzisław Marek Krasnodębski, Ph.D. (born 11 April 1953 in Choszczno, Poland) is a Polish sociologist, social philosopher, publicist and professor at the University of Bremen (Germany), who has been a Member of the European Parliament since the 2014 election. Biography He finished Piotr Skarga High School in Grójec (1972). In 1976 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Warsaw and in 1981 from the Ruhr -Universität Bochum. In 1984 he obtained a PhD at the University of Warsaw, and in 1991 at the same university he earned a post-doctoral degree (doctor habil.) with a thesis entitled: The Fall of the idea of progress. Between 1976 and 1991 he taught sociology, social theory and philosophy at the University of Warsaw. From 1991 to 1992 he was a professor at the University of Kassel. In 1992 he settled in Germany. Member Of The European Parliament
A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a popular representative in the European Parliament. When the European Parliament (then known as the Common Assembly of the ECSC) first met in 1952, its members were directly appointed by the governments of member states from among those already sitting in their own national parliaments. Since 1979, however, MEPs have been elected by direct universal suffrage. Earlier European organizations that were a precursor to the European Union did not have MEPs. Each member state establishes its own method for electing MEPs – and in some states this has changed over time – but the system chosen must be a form of proportional representation.
