Zaven I Der Yeghiayan Of Constantinople
Zaven Der Yeghiayan (Զաւէն Տէր Եղիայեան; 8 September 1868 in Mosul, Ottoman Iraq – 4 June 1947 in Baghdad, Iraq) was Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople in 1913–22. He was deported to Mosul during the Armenian genocide. Life Zaven Der-Yeghiayan received his primary education in Baghdad and continued his studies at the Armash Theological Seminary. He became bishop and then prelate for Diyarbakir and in 1913 he became patriarch of Constantinople. The Ottoman government exiled him to Baghdad in 1916. In 1926, Zaven became director plenipotentiary of the Melkonian Institute in Cyprus. In 1927, he moved back to Baghdad. He is the author of ''My Patriarchal Memoirs''. This memoir gives readers a detailed eyewitness account of the Armenian genocide and attempts by the Patriarch himself to stop it. Zaven Badoyan ( hy, Զավեն Բադոյան, born 22 December 1989) is an Armenian football player who currently plays winger for Saudi club Afif. Club career Zaven Badoyan was born in Yerevan. He is a graduate of the local school FIMA. But he first tried his hand at several other sports, and eventually decided to pursue a football career. At 6 years of age he went to football school FIMA, where his first coach was Levon Barseghyan. At 16 years old, he was playing in the professional Armenian Premier League. Zaven Collins (born May 19, 1999) is an American football linebacker for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Tulsa, where he was named a unanimous All-American and won several defensive player of the year awards in 2020. Zaven Biberyan ( hy, Զաւէն Պիպեռեան; 1921 in Istanbul, Turkey – October 4, 1984) was a Turkish writer, editor, and author of Armenian descent. Early life Biberyan was born in Cengelkoy, a district of Istanbul in 1921. He first attended the local Aramyan-Uncuyan Armenian school and later Saint Joseph High School. He then attended the academy of Trade Sciences in Istanbul. Career as writer Zaven Biberyan had always written in Armenian. When Biberyan was conscripted into the Turkish Army in 1941, he met with ''Jamanak'' chief editor Ara Kocunyan. Leon Zaven Surmelian ( hy, Լեւոն Զաւէն Սիւրմէլեան; November 24, 1905 – October 3, 1995) was an Armenian-American writer.
