Zara (Milan Metro)
Zara is an interchange station between Lines 3 and 5 of the Milan Metro. The station opened in 1995. It was the final stop on Line 3 until 2003, when Maciachini was opened. It was the final stop on Line 5 and its only link to the rest of the network from the line's opening on 10 February 2013 until its extension to Porta Garibaldi on 1 March 2014. Line 3 (''Linea Tre'' in Italian, also known as M3) is a subway line serving Milan, Italy. The line is part of the Milan Metro and is operated by ATM. Construction began in 1981 in order to be ready for the 1990 Football World Cup. It is also called the Yellow Line ('' Linea Gialla'') as it is identified by yellow signage. The line connects the south-eastern suburb of San Donato Milanese to the north-western area of the city passing through the city centre. It is 17.1 km long with 21 stations. The line, also known as M5 or the Purple Line (''Linea Viola'' in Italian), is long and goes through the city from the north to the north-west. It opened in stages between 2013 and 2015. Garibaldi FS is a station on Lines 2 and 5 of the Milan Metro, and the Milan Passante railway. The Line 2 station was opened on 21 July 1971 as part of the extension from Centrale. It served as the western terminus until 3 March 1978, when the first trains could travel the new route to Cadorna. The Passante station was opened in 1997, and the Line 5 station in 2005. The station is located on Viale Don Luigi Sturzo, near the Piazza Sigmund Freud, within the territory of the municipality of Milan.
