Zambian Airways was the flag carrier of Zambia, based in Lusaka, Zambia. Zambian Airways suspended operations on January 10, 2009. History Mines Air Services Limited (MAS) was incorporated in 1948 as a subsidiary of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM). As part of the process of privatisation of the mines, MAS was disposed of by the government of Zambia on 28 April 1998. MAS purchased two new Raytheon Beech 1900D Airliner aircraft from Raytheon Credit Corporation (RCC) in July and August 1998 respectively. The company has been operating these two aircraft since then, under the trading name of Zambian Airways. On 10 January 2009, the company announced it was suspending operations citing high fuel costs as the main reason. Solwezi Airport
Solwezi Airport is an airport serving Solwezi, a city in the North-Western Province of Zambia. The airport is the largest in the province and was upgraded by Kansanshi Mining PLC with the addition of a new runway able to handle the Boeing 737. Prior to the runway being upgraded there was a small 1200 meter runway not able to handle large aircraft, but with the upgrade of the runway after the mining boom, Proflight Zambia was able to deploy the British Aerospace Jetstream 41 to Solwezi. Also, the newly revived national carrier, Zambia Airways, has begun service from Lusaka to Solwezi utilizing a Dash 8-400. Solwezi is a town in Zambia. It is the provincial capital of the mineral-rich North-Western Province. Solwezi is also the administrative capital of Solwezi District, one of the eleven districts in the North-Western Province. Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport is an international airport located in Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia. It was officially known as Ndola Airport before being renamed in 2011 in honour of Simon Kapwepwe, the nation's former vice president. It is located adjacent to the Dag Hammarskjöld Crash Site Memorial about west of the city centre. It is accessed by using the Dag Hammarskjöld Memorial Access Road off the T3 Road (Ndola-Kitwe Dual Carriageway). Ndola
