Zamazaan (1965 – 8 April 1990) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and Champion sire in New Zealand and Australia. Zamazaan was bred by the HH Aga Khan IV. Racing career Zamazaan was a winner of 5 stakes races from 2,400 metres to 3,100 metres. He retired from the track in 1969. Exbury (1959–1979) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse named for the famous Exbury Gardens Estate in Hampshire, England belonging to owner Guy de Rothschild's cousin, Edmund de Rothschild. Background Bred at the Rothschild's Haras de Meautry in Touques, Calvados, through his sire's line Exbury is a descendant of Haras de Meautry's great champion Brantôme and on his mare's side, the extremely important Italian sire, Nearco. Trained at Chantilly by the Englishman, Geoffroy Watson, a son of trainer John Watson who for forty years was the private trainer for the successful racing stable of Leopold de Rothschild. Elvstroem (foaled 14 November 2000 in Australia) was a bay Thoroughbred racehorse, by world champion sire Danehill from the former champion three-year-old filly, Circles of Gold. Dam Circles of Gold, is a 1991 chestnut mare by the Australasian Champion Sire and Broodmare sire Marscay. She was bred at Widden Stud, where her sire used to stand. The Melbourne Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race held in Melbourne, Australia. It is a 3200-metre race for three-year-olds and over, conducted by the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. Doriemus (17 November 1990 – 11 January 2015) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who began his career in New Zealand and rose to prominence in Australia by winning the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in 1995. He was the eighth of just nine horses to complete the double in the same year. Breeding He was bred to stay, being by Norman Pentaquad (USA) (by Riverman) out of Golden Woods by Zamazaan (FR). Lord Reims was a New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racehorse who raced with success in Australia. Background Lord Reims was a chestnut son of Zamazaan (FR) from the mare Right On (NZ). He was trained in New Zealand by Cliff Fenwick at Takanini. Racing career He excelled at staying races with his major race victories including the 1987 MRC Caulfield Cup (defeating the champion Beau Zam) and three successive SAJC Adelaide Cup’s from 1987 to 1989 at Morphettville Racecourse.
