ZMZ-24
The ZMZ-24 was an automobile engine produced by Zavolzhye Engine Factory (''Zavolzhye Motorni Zavod'', ZMZ) in the Soviet Union. The ZMZ-24 was an aluminium-Cylinder block, block overhead valve (OHV) Inline-four engine, inline four design, an evolution of the ZMZ-21A, Engine displacement, displacing , and in its initial appearance, produced with chain-driven camshaft and compression ratio of 6.6:1; it produced at 4,000 Revolutions per minute, rpm and at 2,200 rpm. It was also produced as the UMZ 4178.10.Thompson, p.130. It "quickly became the mainstay of the Soviet engine industry",Thompson, p.129. and would be used in a variety of vehicles. The improved ZMZ-24D, found in the GAZ-24, ran on octane level, 92 RON gasoline (while the ZMZ-24-01 could use commonly available 76 octane, and the ZMZ-24-07 could use Propane#Motor fuel, liquid propane). The cylinder block was Die casting, die cast, instead of the slower Coquille (engineering), coquille for the 21A. The engine featured a tw ...

GAZ-24
The GAZ-24 "Volga" is a car manufactured by the Gorky Automobile Plant (Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod, GAZ) from 1970 to 1985 as a generation of its Volga marque. A largely redesigned version (practically, a new car in a modified old body) – GAZ-24-10 – was produced from 1985 to 1992. The Belgian-assembled rebadged models were sold as Scaldia-Volga M24 and M24D for the Western European market. 1967-1969 Development of the GAZ-24 (then called M-24) was mostly finished in 1966, when 12 of the third-series prototypes had been built and their design approved. It was unveiled towards the end of 1967. Only 32 units were built in 1968,Thompson, p. 131 though, primarily for road tests, with another 215 units built in 1969. The 1968/1969-built Volgas are often called "preserial" because full-scale manufacturing started only in 1970 (18,486 units built). Distinctive features of the first several prototypes were two outside rearview mirrors fixed on the front fenders. Most of the pr ...

Diesel Engine
The diesel engine, named after Rudolf Diesel, is an internal combustion engine in which ignition of the fuel is caused by the elevated temperature of the air in the cylinder due to mechanical compression; thus, the diesel engine is a so-called compression-ignition engine (CI engine). This contrasts with engines using spark plug-ignition of the air-fuel mixture, such as a petrol engine (gasoline engine) or a gas engine (using a gaseous fuel like natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas). Diesel engines work by compressing only air, or air plus residual combustion gases from the exhaust (known as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)). Air is inducted into the chamber during the intake stroke, and compressed during the compression stroke. This increases the air temperature inside the cylinder to such a high degree that atomised diesel fuel injected into the combustion chamber ignites. With the fuel being injected into the air just before combustion, the dispersion of the fuel is une ...

Sedan Delivery
A panel van, also known as a blind van, car-derived van (United Kingdom) or sedan delivery (United States), is a small cargo vehicle with a passenger car chassis, typically with a single front bench seat and no side windows behind the B-pillar. Panel vans are smaller than panel trucks or cargo vans, both of which use body-on-frame truck chassis. As they are derived from passenger cars, the development of panel vans is typically closely linked with the passenger car models upon which they depend. North American panel vans were initially based upon the two-door station wagon models, while Europe's narrower roads dictated that panel vans utilize the smaller donor chassis of subcompact cars in that market. In Australia, panel vans were a development of the ute, a small pickup truck based on a passenger car chassis, e.g. Holden Ute, often using the longer wheelbase of a station wagon chassis. Origins Panel vans were a well-established body type by the end of the 1920s. Panel va ...
