ZIM (shipping Company)
Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., commonly known as ZIM ( he, צים, ''tsim''; a biblical word meaning "a fleet of ships", Numbers 24:24), is a publicly held Israeli international cargo shipping company, and one of the top 20 global carriers. The company's headquarters are in Haifa, Israel; Originating in 1945, ZIM has traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 2021. From 1948 to 2004, it traded as ZIM Israel Navigation Company. History ZIM was founded on June 7, 1945, as the ZIM Palestine Navigation Company Ltd, by the Jewish Agency, the Israel Maritime League and the Histadrut (General Federation of Laborers in the Land of Israel). The first ship was purchased in partnership with Harris and Dixon (based in London) in 1947. This vessel was refurbished, renamed SS ''Kedma,'' and sailed to the future state of Israel in the summer of 1947. Israeli National Maritime Museum
The National Maritime Museum ( he, המוזיאון הימי הלאומי, ''HaMuze'on HaYami HaLe'umi'') is a maritime and archaeological museum in Haifa, Israel. The museum was founded in 1953, based on the private collection of its founder and first director, Aryeh Ben-Eli. In 1972, the museum moved to its current premises near the northern beachhead of Mount Carmel, between Stella Maris and Bat Galim neighborhoods. Nearby are the Israeli Clandestine Immigration and Naval Museum and the Cave of Elijah. The Marine Workshop of the Leon Recanati Institute for Maritime Studies, affiliated with the University of Haifa is located at the museum. The workshop provides professional diving and field surveying services for field research conducted at the institute.
