Zwolle Half Marathon
Zwolle Half Marathon is an annual half marathon road running event held in Zwolle, Netherlands, in June. The race was first held in 2001 and attracts both amateur and professional runners. Over 3000 people took part in the 2008 edition of the race. Jason Mbote of Kenya is a four-time winner of the race and his partner Flomena Chepchirchir has three victories on the women's side. Zwolle
Zwolle () is a city and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of Overijssel and the province's second-largest municipality after Enschede with a population of 130,592 as of 1 December 2021. Zwolle is on the border with Gelderland, which follows the river IJssel, and is located about 50 km north east of Utrecht and 85 km south west of Groningen. The current Mayor of Zwolle is Lorenzo Brands. History Archaeological findings indicate that the area surrounding Zwolle has been inhabited for a long time. Caroline Kwambai
Caroline Chepkorir Kwambai (born 9 September 1975) is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed in road running competitions. Her greatest international honour was a team gold at the 2001 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, where she finished twelfth. She also won a team gold as a junior athlete at the 1990 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. She holds a marathon personal best of 2:28:47 hours, set during her runner-up finish at the 2003 Amsterdam Marathon. Kwambai was a frequent competitor in European road races and won several high profile half marathons, including: the Paris Half Marathon, Prague Half Marathon, Great Scottish Run and Zwolle Half Marathon. She was also the 2003 winner of the BIG 25 Berlin and Fifth Third River Bank Run races over 25 kilometres. She competed in a dozen marathons in her career. Helah Kiprop
Helah Kiprop Jelagat (born 7 April 1985) is a Kenyan professional long-distance runner who competes in the half marathon and marathon. Her personal bests for the events are 1:07:39 minutes and 2:21:27 hours, respectively. She has won the Berlin Half Marathon, the Egmond Half Marathon and the Zwolle Half Marathon. She was the 2014 winner of the Seoul International Marathon and came fourth at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. Career Early career Kiprop had her first win in a European road race in Nogent-sur-Marne in 2005, running 32:55 minutes at the local 10K run. She began training with GS Valsugana Trentino, an athletics club in Trento, Italy, and made a successful half marathon debut in September 2005, taking third place at the high profile Lille Half Marathon with a time of 74:02 minutes. Nguse Tesfaldet Amlosom (born 10 November 1986) is an Eritrean long-distance runner. He competed in the 10,000 m event at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics and placed 15th and 9th, respectively. Career Nguse's international debut came at the 2011 Military World Games, where he placed fourth in the 10,000 m with a personal best of 29:05.26 minutes. The following year he came 19th at the 2012 African Cross Country Championships. He showed much improved form in the racing circuit: he ran a 10,000 m best of 27:28.10 minutes, a 10K run best of 28:19 minutes, and won the Zwolle Half Marathon with a time of 61:39 minutes. Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich
Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich (born 15 March 1982) is a Kenyan professional athlete who specialises in long-distance running, competing in events ranging from 10 km to the marathon. He was the bronze medallist in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the former world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:03:23, which he set at the 2013 Berlin Marathon. He has run under 2 hours 4 minutes for the marathon on four occasions.
