Zura Barayeva
Zura Barayeva (died 26 October 2002) was the widow of Arbi Barayev, a notorious Chechen warlord. She was killed during the Moscow theater hostage crisis in October 2002, in which she headed a female unit. A former hostage described her: "She seemed very normal. She hid her feelings behind a mask of courtesy. She seemed to take pleasure that she was in this situation, that people were listening to her and wanting to talk to her, that she was in control. She would ask people if they had children. She would always say, "Everything will be fine. It will finish peacefully". Zura Begum
Zurah Begum (Rohingya), also known as Aye Nyunt, was one of the first two female legislators of the Union of Burma, along with Khin Kyi. She was a politician from Arakan State of Maungdaw, Burma (now Rakhine State, Myanmar). She was elected to the Parliament of Burma during the 1951 Burmese general election, as the representative of Maungdaw-2 constituency. Zura Bitiyeva (1948 – May 21, 2003) (Cyrilic:Зура Битиева; also transliterated as Bitieva) was a locally well-known Chechen human rights activist who was extrajudicially executed by what is assumed to be a Russian government death squad in 2003 after she complained to the European Court of Human Rights of ill treatment during an earlier illegal detention. Three other members of her immediate family were also killed in the same attack. Bitiyeva's was not an isolated case, and many people in Chechnya who have submitted cases of serious human rights violations to the ECHR have been also subjected to reprisals, including being killed or forcibly disappeared. Zura Karuhimbi
Zura Karuhimbi (c. 1925 – 17 December 2018) was a Rwandan woman who saved more than 100 people from being killed by Hutu militias during the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda . A traditional healer, she hid the refugees in her house and deterred attackers by masquerading as a witch. Her role was recognized in 2006 by the award of the Campaign Against Genocide Medal by Rwandan President Paul Kagame. Early life Karuhimbi's birth date is not known – some sources state circa 1909 but she is thought to have been born around 1925 which was the date stated on her state identity card. Her family were traditional healers in the village of Musamo in Ruhango District, around an hour's drive from the nation's capital of Kigali. Edmundo Salomón Zura de Jesús (born 12 January 1983 in Pimampiro, Imbabura), is an Ecuadorian professional footballer who plays for El Nacional.
