Zumba (mascot)
Zumba is the official mascot for Goa Professional League's Sporting Clube de Goa. Portrayed as a lion, Zumba first appeared in 2011, during the club's debut in the fifth season of the I-League. He was the first live mascot introduced in the league. Launch On 23 October 2011, Sporting Clube de Goa, introduced its official mascot named Zumba. The unveiling of Zumba took place during a special event where the club also premiered its theme song titled "Flaming Oranje." This anthem was composed by the well-known Goan band, Sky High. During the intermission, Alan Sequeira, a national motocross champion, made an entrance into the pavilion accompanied by Zumba. The event was graced by Bruno Coutinho, a recipient of the Arjuna Award, who served as the chief guest. Sporting Clube De Goa
Sporting Clube de Goa, simply known as Sporting Goa (also known by its abbreviation SCG), is an Indian professional football club based in Panaji, in the Indian state of Goa, that competes in Goa Professional League. The club has also competed in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. It is built on the lines of Portuguese club Sporting CP and adopting a similar club crest. Its Futsal section competes in the Futsal Club Championship, top tier futsal club competition of the country. The club Cidade de Goa (''City of Goa'') was purchased by Sporting's owner late Mr Peter Vaz and wife current President Mrs Natalina Vaz and renamed Sporting Clube de Goa in 1999. The Goa Professional League (abbreviated as GPL, also known as the Selvel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the premier state-level football league in Goa, India. It is organised by the Goa Football Association. History The official league in Goa, called the ''First division'', began in 1951 and was organised by the Conselho de Desportos. 2011–12 I-League
The 2011–12 I-League was the fifth season of the I-League. The season began in October 2011 and ended in May 2012. Salgaocar are the defending champions, having won their maiden title in the previous season. The current edition has a total of 14 teams contesting for the honors. These include the top twelve teams from the 2010–11 season along with the two promoted sides, Shillong Lajong and Sporting Clube de Goa, who had been the winner and the runner-up in the 2011 I-League 2nd Division respectively. Goan
Goans ( kok, गोंयकार, Romi Konkani: , pt, Goeses) is the demonym used to describe the people native to Goa, India, who form an ethno-linguistic group resulting from the assimilation of Indo-Aryan, Dravidian, Indo-Portuguese, and Austro-Asiatic ethnic and/or linguistic ancestries. Motocross
Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. The sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom. Bruno Coutinho (footballer, Born 1969)
Bruno Coutinho (born 6 October 1969) is an Indian football player from Goa, and winner of the Arjuna Award in 2001, a national Indian award for excellence in sport. Former Indian captain Coutinho studied in Monte De Guirim, who was recognized by coach Paul Raj, he played his 1st game against school rivals ST.Pilar, having scored 3 goals and winning Subroto Mukerjee Cup Football tournament u17. The Arjuna Award, officially known as Arjuna Awards for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games, is the second-highest sporting honour of India, the highest being the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
