Alphaeus Zulu
Alpheus Hamilton Zulu (29 July 190526 August 1987) was an Anglican bishop in the second half of the 20th century. Educated at the University of South Africa, he was ordained in 1940. In 1948 he co-founded with the Revd Philip Mbata, '' Iviyo loFakazi bakaKristu'' (The Legion of Christ's Witnesses): a charismatic movement within the Anglican Church. Following a curacy at St Faith's Mission, Durban he was its priest in charge from 1952 to 1960 when he became a suffragan bishop of Diocese of St John's (called Assistant Bishop of St John's). Promotion to be the ninth bishop of Zululand then followed. Ekoli Mahenge Zulu (November 21, 1965 – August 27, 2019) was an African-born, Italian boxer. He competed in the welterweight category. Biography Mahenge Zulu was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He grew up in Pesaro, in the region of Marche, in Italy. He started boxing at the age of 15 and made his professional debut at 25, later than most boxers. In 1996 he won the IBF Intercontinental welterweight title. His work both in the music industry and human rights arena is well known both locally and internationally. Early life Maiko was born in Livingstone which is a tourist capital city of Zambia. Winstone Zulu (January 7, 1964 – October 12, 2011) was a Zambian HIV and tuberculosis activist. Zulu, who became the first Zambian to publicly acknowledge his HIV status in 1990, was considered one of the world's leading HIV and AIDS activists. At the time, people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS faced widespread discrimination in Zambia. Zulu was born in Lusaka, Zambia, in 1964. He was the sixth of his parents' thirteen children. In 1990, Zulu made headlines by becoming the first person to announce his HIV status in the country. He became one of the first Africans to become involved in the AIDS crisis on a worldwide level. Zulu was further diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1997. Zulu lost four of his brothers to tuberculosis during his lifetime due to little access to anti-TB drugs, widely available in other countries.
