Zoot Allures
''Zoot Allures'' is the 22nd album by the American rock musician Frank Zappa, released in October 1976 and his only release on the Warner Bros. Records label. Due to a lawsuit with his former manager, Herb Cohen, Zappa's recording contract was temporarily reassigned from DiscReet Records to Warner Bros. Title The title is a pun on the French expression " Zut alors!", which conveys "''dammit''". Album information The album was originally conceptualized as a double LP, but Zappa rearranged, edited, and shortened the track listing to what was eventually released as a single album. Zappa played a test pressing of the original album for ''Circus'' magazine in 1976, which reported a radically different, though slightly erroneous track listing that included "Sleep Dirt", "The Ocean Is the Ultimate Solution", "Filthy Habits", and "Night of the Iron Sausage". Jeff Simmons (musician)
Jeffrey Lael Simmons is an American Rock music, rock musician, best known as a former member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Career Simmons provided bass, guitar, vocals and harmonica for Mothers of Invention during 1970 and 1971. He left the Mothers in early 1971 just prior to the filming of ''200 Motels'' (where he was replaced by Ringo Starr's chauffeur Martin Lickert). Simmons later returned to the Mothers occasionally during the period of 1972 to 1974. Zappa and Mothers albums he appeared on include ''Chunga's Revenge'' (1970), ''Waka/Jawaka'' (1972) and ''Roxy & Elsewhere'' (1974). The Torture Never Stops (song)
"The Torture Never Stops" is a song by Frank Zappa from the 1976 album ''Zoot Allures''. Other versions appear on ''Zappa in New York'', ''Thing-Fish'', ''You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 1'', ''You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 4'', ''The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life'', '' FZ:OZ'', '' Cheap Thrills'', '' Buffalo'', ''Philly '76'', and ''Hammersmith Odeon''. Zappa played "The Torture Never Stops" in concert from 1975 to 1978, in 1981 and again in 1988. Eddie Jobson
Edwin "Eddie" Jobson (born 28 April 1955) is an English musician noted for his use of synthesizers. He has been a member of several progressive rock bands, including Curved Air, Roxy Music, U.K. and Jethro Tull. He was also part of Frank Zappa's band in 1976–77. Aside from his keyboard work Jobson has also gained acclaim for his violin playing. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Progressive Music Awards. Patrick John O'Hearn (born September 6, 1954) is an American multi-instrumentalist, composer, and recording artist. Terry John Bozzio (born December 27, 1950) is an American drummer best known for his work with Missing Persons and Frank Zappa. He has been featured on nine solo or collaborative albums, 26 albums with Zappa and seven albums with Missing Persons. Roy Estrada (also known as "Roy Ralph Moleman Guacamole Guadalupe Hidalgo Estrada" and "Orejón"; born April 17, 1943) is an American former musician and convicted sex offender. ''Läther'' (, or "''Leather''") is the sixty-fifth official album by Frank Zappa. It was released posthumously as a three-CD set on Rykodisc in 1996. The album's title is derived from bits of comic dialog that link the songs. Zappa also explained that the name is a joke, based on "common bastardized pronunciation of Germanic syllables by the Swiss." ''Läther'' integrates many aspects of Zappa's musical oeuvre — heavy rock, orchestral works, and complex jazz flavored instrumentals, along with Zappa's distinctive electric guitar solos and satirical lyrics, all edited together in a seemingly random way. ''Sleep Dirt'' is an album by Frank Zappa released in January 1979, on his own DiscReet Records label. It reached #175 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart in the United States. Zappa's original title for the album was ''Hot Rats III''. As the original title implies, Zappa saw this as a sort of follow up to his earlier Jazz influenced Rock albums such as ''Hot Rats'' (1969) and '' Waka/Jawaka — Hot Rats'' (1972). Some of the songs on this album were originally written in 1972 for a Zappa stage musical called ''Hunchentoot''. A complete script exists, but the recordings for this project were never completed. Recording sessions The music was recorded at the Los Angeles Record Plant and at Caribou Ranch in Colorado during 1974 and 1976. The initial 1979 LP release of ''Sleep Dirt'' was entirely instrumental.
