Zonbu Architecture
Zonbu was a technology company that markets a computing platform which combines a web-centric service, a small form factor PC, and an open source based software architecture. Zonbu was founded by Alain Rossmann (previously Founder and CEO of Openwave) and Gregoire Gentil (previously co-founder of Twingo Systems). Hardware The first-generation Zonbox hardware was the eBox-4854 sold by DMP Electronics of Taiwan. Called the Zonbu Mini, it was a nettop computer measuring . Alain Rossmann
Alain Simon Rossmann (born 1956) is a serial entrepreneur who was a member of the early Apple Macintosh team and who went on to found or co-found nine startups, of which three went public (Radius, C-Cube Microsystems, Unwired Planet), three were acquired (EO by AT&T, Vudu by Walmart, PSS Systems by IBM), and two were dissolved (Zonbu, Klip). The ninth is his current company, Machinify. Education In 1979, Rossmann graduated at the École Polytechnique with a BS in mathematics and physics. He completed an MS in civil engineering at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1981 and an MBA from Stanford University in 1983. Career Rossmann was head evangelist at the Macintosh division of Apple Computer from 1983 to 1986. He worked with Joanna Hoffman and the couple subsequently married. Mini PCI
Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) is a local computer bus for attaching hardware devices in a computer and is part of the PCI Local Bus standard. The PCI bus supports the functions found on a processor bus but in a standardized format that is independent of any given processor's native bus. Devices connected to the PCI bus appear to a bus master to be connected directly to its own bus and are assigned addresses in the processor's address space. It is a parallel bus, synchronous to a single bus clock. Attached devices can take either the form of an integrated circuit fitted onto the motherboard (called a ''planar device'' in the PCI specification) or an expansion card that fits into a slot. UnionFS
Unionfs is a filesystem service for Linux, FreeBSD and NetBSD which implements a union mount for other file systems. It allows files and directories of separate file systems, known as branches, to be transparently overlaid, forming a single coherent file system. Contents of directories which have the same path within the merged branches will be seen together in a single merged directory, within the new, virtual filesystem. When mounting branches, the priority of one branch over the other is specified. So when both branches contain a file with the same name, one gets priority over the other. The different branches may be either ''read-only'' or ''read/write'' file systems, so that writes to the virtual, merged copy are directed to a specific real file system. Amazon S3 or Amazon Simple Storage Service is a service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that provides object storage through a web service interface. Parallel Port
In computing, a parallel port is a type of interface found on early computers (personal and otherwise) for connecting peripherals. The name refers to the way the data is sent; parallel ports send multiple bits of data at once ( parallel communication), as opposed to serial communication, in which bits are sent one at a time.
