Zona Tortona
The red-tailed silverside, or zona (''Bedotia geayi'') is a species of Madagascar rainbowfish Endemism, endemic to the Mananjary River drainage in Madagascar. It is threatened by habitat loss and introduced species. It has often been confused with the related ''Bedotia madagascariensis, B. madagascariensis'', which is common in the aquarium trade.SeriouslyFish: Bedotia madagascarensis.' Jacques Pellegrin
Jacques Pellegrin (12 June 1873, Paris – 12 August 1944) was a French zoologist. In Paris, he worked under zoologist Léon Vaillant (chair of reptiles and fishes) at the ''Muséum national d'histoire naturelle''. From 1897, Pellegrin served as ''préparateur'' at the museum. He obtained doctorates in medicine (1899) and science (1904), and in 1908 was named as an assistant director. After many missions abroad, he became sub-director of the museum in 1937, and replaced Louis Roule (1861–1942) as the chairperson of herpetology and ichthyology. He published over 600 scientific books and articles and discovered around 350 new species. Bedotia
''Bedotia'' is a genus of the family Bedotiidae of fishes endemic to Madagascar. Taxonomy This genus is monophyletic. Little is known regarding phylogenetic interrelationships of the numerous populations of ''Bedotia'' of eastern Madagascar, and the genus is in need of systematic revision. One author synonymized ''B. longianalis'' and ''B. tricolor'' with ''B. geayi'' with no justification. It is apparent that several species of ''Bedotia'' exist, although many of these are new to science and await description, whereas the taxonomic status of many nominal species remains uncertain.
