''Dracula's Dog'' (U.K. title: ''Zoltan... Hound of Dracula''; original working title: ''Hounds of Dracula'') is a 1977 American horror film starring Michael Pataki and José Ferrer. It revolves around a dog who is turned into a vampire by a member of the Dracula family, who is also a vampire. The film's screenplay by Frank Ray Perilli was the basis for the mass market paperback novel ''Hounds of Dracula'' (1977) by Ken Johnson, which was re-titled ''Dracula's Dog'' upon the film's release in the United States. In the United Kingdom, the novel was titled ''Zoltan...Hound of Dracula''. Albert Band (May 7, 1924 – June 14, 2002) was a French-American film director and film producer. He was the son of artist Max Band, father of filmmaker Charles Band and of film composer Richard Band and the grandfather of Alex Band, Taryn Band and Rachael Band. Life and career Band was born in Paris, France, the son of Bertha (Finkelstein) and Max Band, an artist. His mother was born in Russia and his father was from Kudirkos Naumiestis, Lithuania. His family is Jewish. He escaped from Paris to the United States with his family prior to the occupation of France during World War II. He graduated from Hollywood High School. ''Dracula'' is a novel by Bram Stoker, published in 1897. As an epistolary novel, the narrative is related through letters, diary entries, and newspaper articles. It has no single protagonist, but opens with solicitor Jonathan Harker taking a business trip to stay at the castle of a Transylvanian nobleman, Count Dracula. Harker escapes the castle after discovering that Dracula is a vampire, and the Count moves to England and plagues the seaside town of Whitby. A small group, led by Abraham Van Helsing, hunt Dracula and, in the end, kill him. ''Dracula'' was mostly written in the 1890s. Stoker produced over a hundred pages of notes for the novel, drawing extensively from Transylvanian folklore and history. Early life Logothetis was born in Athens, Greece, and immigrated to the United States of America at the age of six with his mother, Anna, and his father, Euthymios.
