Zoffany (American Horse)
Zoffany (1980–1998) was an American-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. Bred in New Jersey, he was large bay horse with a narrow white blaze. Zoffany was first sent to be trained in Britain by Guy Harwood where he won three times from nine starts in 1982 and 1983. He ran in the 1983 Epsom Derby finishing twentieth of the twenty-one runners behind Teenoso. At the end of his three-year-old season he has exported to the United States and was trained in California by John Gosden. He won the Hollywood Turf Cup in 1985 and the San Luis Rey Handicap in 1987. After his retirement from racing he was exported to stand as a stallion in Australia, where he died in 1998. Exclusive Native
Exclusive Native (April 17, 1965 – May 10, 1983) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Sanford Stakes and Arlington Classic. He is best known as the sire of Triple Crown winner Affirmed, who helped Exclusive Native become the leading sire in North America of 1978 and 1979. Background Exclusive Native was a chestnut horse sired by Raise a Native out of Exclusive. Foaled in Florida, the chestnut colt was bred and owned by Louis Wolfson's Harbor View Farm. Racing career Exclusive Native won four races from thirteen starts, and his earnings totaled $169,013. Two of his wins included the Sanford Stakes in 1967 and the Arlington Classic in 1968. Frankel (horse)
Frankel (foaled 11 February 2008) is a retired champion British Thoroughbred racehorse and current sire. He was unbeaten in his fourteen-race career and was the highest-rated racehorse in the world from May 2011. In 2010 he defeated a field including subsequent Group 1 winners Nathaniel and Colour Vision on his debut before winning the Royal Lodge Stakes by ten lengths and the Dewhurst Stakes in which he defeated the Middle Park Stakes winner Dream Ahead. As a three-year-old, he won the Classic 2000 Guineas by six lengths, the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, defeated the outstanding older miler Canford Cliffs in the much-anticipated Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot. Zoffany (Irish-bred Horse)
Zoffany (18 March 2008 – 8 January 2021) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was one of the best two-year-olds of 2010 in Ireland when he won five of his seven races including the Golden Fleece Stakes, Tyros Stakes and Phoenix Stakes. In the following year he failed to win a race but produced a career-best effort to run Frankel to three quarters of a length in the St James's Palace Stakes. He was retired from racing at the end of the year to become a breeding stallion and made a very promising start to his stud career. He died on 8 January 2021 at the age of 13 due to liver failure. Background Zoffany was a bay horse with a small white star and a white sock on his right hind leg bred by Epona Bloodstock at the Croom House Stud in County Limerick. As a yearling in October 2009 the colt was consigned to the Tattersalls sale and was bought for 220,000 guineas by the Coolmore Stud's John Magnier. Teenoso
Teenoso (7 April 1980 – 4 October 1999) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. After showing moderate form as a two-year-old, he improved in the spring of 1983 to win the Group Three Lingfield Derby Trial and the Epsom Derby, giving Lester Piggott a record ninth win in the Classic race. Teenoso was beaten in his two remaining races that year but showed good form as a four-year-old, winning the Ormonde Stakes, the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and, on his final appearance, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. He proved to be a disappointment at stud. Horse Markings
Markings on horses are usually distinctive white areas on an otherwise dark base coat color. Most horses have some markings, and they help to identify the horse as a unique individual. Markings are present at birth and do not change over the course of the horse's life. Most markings have pink skin underneath most of the white hairs, though a few faint markings may occasionally have white hair with no underlying pink skin. Markings may appear to change slightly when a horse grows or sheds its winter coat, however this difference is simply a factor of hair coat length; the underlying pattern does not change.
