Struga
Struga ( mk, Струга , sq, Strugë) is a town and popular tourist destination situated in the south-western region of North Macedonia, lying on the shore of Lake Ohrid. The town of Struga is the seat of Struga Municipality. Name The name Struga was first mentioned in the 11th century. It is of Slavic origin. and means a "river bed". The ancient name of the city is Enchalon (Εγχαλών), the ancient Greek word for eel, which may be related to the Illyrian Enchele tribe that was known to live in the region. According to E. Hamp, a connection with Albanian ’ngjalë’ makes it possible that the name Enchele was derived from the Illyrian term for eels, which may have been anciently related to Greek and simply adjusted to the Greek pronunciation. HC Rabotnichki
Handball Club Rabotnichki is a handball club from Skopje. It was established in 1948 as a section of the Sports Association Rabotnichki. HC Rabotnichki is a member of VIP Super Liga, the top Mens handball competition organized by the Handball Federation. History Rabotnichki together with the team of HC Vardar these are the oldest handball clubs in Macedonia. On 1 July 1945 in the "Working Hall" in Skopje, a Sports Department Rabotnichki has been founded, with Aleksandar Canko Hristov as president. Afterwards, many sports sections fused with Rabotnichki. Besides football, Rabotnichki sports department also organized the first volleyball match in after the war, as well as founding ski club and athletic club. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. RK Eurofarm Pelister (HC Eurofarm Pelister) ( mk, РК Еурофарм Пелистер) is a handball club from Bitola, Macedonia. They currently compete in the Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European League. History The original team was the first handball club in Macedonia, formed in 1946 under the name Pelagonija. It later changed its name to Pelister in 1955. The 60s were very successful, winning 4 championships starting in 1960 till the last one in 1969. The club ended up winning three more titles in the 70s. In the 80s, the 1981 season was the last winning season, capturing their 8th Macedonian league title. RK Metalurg Skopje ( mk, РК Металург Скопје) is a Macedonian handball club based in Skopje. They compete in the domestic Macedonian Handball Super League and EHF European League. History The club was founded in 1971 under patronage of the Skopje steel industry. There, an idea was born to form a team composed of employees that worked in the nearby steel mill. Nikola Bogdanovski accepted the idea after it was reviewed by the board of directors. Thus, RK Metalurg was created. The same concept realized by Bogdanovski continues to live today. At the time, the club didn't even think of playing in any of the European competitions, because they played their best not to be relegated from the first league.
