Zivar Mammadova
Zivar Mammadova ( az, Zivər Nəcəfqulu qızı Məmmədova; 14 June 1902 – 22 April 1980) was an Azeri sculptor, known as the first woman sculptor of Azerbaijan. She was the mother of the notable Azeri sculptor Tokay Mammadov. Life Zivar Mammadova, the first Azeri woman sculptor, was born in Baku into the family of the businessman Najafgulu Tagiyev. ''Koroghlu'' ( az, Koroğlu; literally, ''The Blind Man's Son'') is an opera in five acts by Uzeyir Hajibeyov to a libretto in Azerbaijani by Habib Ismayilov, with poetry by Mammed Said Ordubadi. The libretto is based on episodes from the Epic of Koroghlu, a heroic legend prominent in the oral traditions of the Turkic peoples. The opera premiered on April 30, 1937, at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater. Idris Suleymanov
Idris Hasan oglu Suleymanov (Azerbaijani: İdris Həsən oğlu Süleymanov; 12 February 1915 – 29 July 1986) was an Azerbaijani Red Army Lieutenant and Hero of the Soviet Union. During the Battle of the Caucasus near Mozdok in November 1942, he led the 1st Rifle Platoon of the 1st Separate Rifle Battalion in the 43rd Separate Rifle Brigade. He reportedly launched a counterattack and was wounded in the eye and leg but did not leave the front line. Suleymanov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on 13 December 1942. He retired postwar and worked at the local social security department. Early life Suleymanov was born on 12 February 1915 in Goranboy to a peasant family. He graduated from 10th grade and worked as a secretary of the People's Court. Mashadi Azizbey oghlu Azizbeyov, also spelled Azizbeyov ( az, Məşədi Əziz bəy oğlu Əzizbəyov; russian: Мешади Азиз-бек оглы Азизбеков; January 6, 1876 - September 20, 1918) was a Soviet revolutionary of Azerbaijani origin, leader of the revolutionary movement in Azerbaijan, one of the first Azeri Marxists, Provincial Commissioner and Deputy People's Commissar of Internal Affairs, gubernial commissar for Baku.
