Zion-Benton Township High School
Zion-Benton Township High School, or ZBTHS, is a public high school located at the corner of Kenosha Road and 21st Street in Zion, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Zion-Benton Township High School District 126. The school mascot/symbol is the Fighting Zee-Bee which was adapted from the Navy Seabees of World War II. In 2008 the district opened a partner school near the former ZBTHS Pearce Campus called New Tech High at Zion-Benton East, a 4-year high school associated with the New Tech Network of Napa, California. New Tech High at Zion-Benton East is located at the division of Bethesda Avenue and 23rd Street in Zion. Admiral Donovhan Schofield (born March 30, 1997) is a British-American professional basketball player for the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Tennessee Volunteers. Early life Schofield, the son of Anthony and Dawn Schofield, was born at St Mary's Hospital in London. His brother O'Brien Schofield is a linebacker who won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. Billy McKinney (basketball)
William Mervin McKinney III (born June 5, 1955) is a retired American professional basketball player, former radio broadcaster, and the current mayor of Zion, Illinois. Due to his quickness he was nicknamed "The Crazed Hummingbird". A 6'0" guard, McKinney attended Zion-Benton High School where he played for Mo Tharp (long time Fremd coach), and Northwestern University; he earned a degree in education. He was the Wildcats' all-time leading scorer for 35 years until John Shurna surpassed him in February 2012. From 1978 to 1986 McKinney played in the National Basketball Association as a member of the Kansas City Kings, Utah Jazz, Denver Nuggets, San Diego Clippers, and Chicago Bulls. Scott Lucas (musician)
David Scott Lucas (born May 10, 1970) is an American musician, who is best known for being the guitarist, bassist, and lead vocalist for Local H, as well as the lead vocalist and guitarist of Scott Lucas and the Married Men. Lucas co-founded Local H in Zion, Illinois, in 1987 with high school friends, bassist Matthew "Matt" Garcia and drummer Joe Daniels, along with lead guitarist John Sparkman. Sparkman left the band in 1991, and Garcia left in 1993, and Lucas added bass pickups to his guitar to compensate; Daniels left the band in July 1999 and was replaced by Brian St. Clair, leaving Lucas as the only remaining original band member. Joe Daniels (drummer)
Joseph William Daniels (born August 4, 1970) is an American rock drummer best known as the original drummer for Local H, from 1987 until July 1999. Career Daniels and his friends Scott Lucas and Matthew "Matt" Garcia started jamming in 1987, while attending high school in Zion, Illinois. They eventually formed Local H in 1990. When Garcia left the band in 1993, he was not replaced, and the band continued as a duo. To complete the band's sound, Lucas had a high school friend modify his guitar by adding a bass pickup. In 1999, Daniels decided to depart Local H. His last show with the band was at Chicago's The Metro on June 24, 1999. Daniels then joined the band Stendec in 1999, lasting until they disbanded in 2001. From 2001 to 2004 Daniels was a founding member of The Black Panels. North Suburban Conference (Illinois)
The North Suburban Conference (NSC) is an extra-curricular conference of eight high schools located in Lake County, Illinois, in the northern suburbs of Chicago. All of the schools are members of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). History Founded in 1948, seven schools located in the northern suburbs of Chicago banded together to create the North Suburban Conference, not to be confused with the Northwest Suburban Conference which was formed in 1925. The original members included Crystal Lake, Grayslake, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Gurnee Warren, Woodstock and Zion-Benton.
