The Zimbabwe national netball team is the national netball team of Zimbabwe. As of 1 July 2020, Zimbabwe are 12th in the INF World Rankings. The Netball World Cup is a quadrennial international netball world championship organised by the World Netball, inaugurated in 1963. Since its inception the competition has been dominated primarily by the Australia national netball team and the New Zealand national netball team, as of the 2019 event having both medaled in every one of the 15 championships – Trinidad and Tobago is the only other team to have won a title (a three-way tie in the 1979 championship). Uganda National Netball Team
The Uganda national netball team represent Uganda in international netball. In line with other women's representative sports teams in Uganda, the netball team are known as the "She-Cranes". Uganda are currently ranked seventh in the INF World Rankings. History World Cups Uganda qualified through to the 2015 World Cup after qualifying via the African system where they defeated Zimbabwe, Zambia, Swaziland and Botswana along the way to finish on top of Africa and making it through to their first World Cup since the 5th edition which was held in Trinidad and Tobago. 2019 Netball World Cup
The 2019 Netball World Cup (also known as the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th edition of the INF Netball World Cup. It was held from 12–21 July 2019 at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England with matches being held on two courts. Host nation England finished their campaign with a bronze medal. New Zealand became 5th time champions after beating Australia in the final and gold medal match. Sixteen nations contested for the title, which included the top six of the previous tournament which was held in Sydney, Australia. After two group stage rounds, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa all made it to the semi-finals. In a rematch of the 2015 final, New Zealand would take home their fifth title after defeating Australia by one goal. England finished in third place, after defeating South Africa. Perpetua Siyachitema
Perpetua Siyachitema (born 15 May 1983) is a former Zimbabwean veteran netball player and captain of the Zimbabwe national team. She had played for Zimbabwe in international arena for 15 years and announced her retirement post the 2019 Netball World Cup. On 25 July 2019, she announced her retirement from international netball at the age of 36 to pursue her coaching career. She is known for her efforts to help Zimbabwe qualify at the Netball World Cup for the first time in 2019. Career Perpetua started playing the sport of netball from sixteen years of age and made her international debut for Zimbabwe at the age of 19. Adelaide Thandeke Muskwe (born 21 August 1998) is a Zimbabwean netball player who represents Zimbabwe internationally and plays in the positions of goal defense and wing defense. Life Muske and her twin brother Admiral were born in 1998 at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe. They moved to the United Kingdom when they were three. Her talents led to her attending Ratcliffe College near Loughborough where she trained with the elite netball team Loughborough Lightning and trained also at UK national camps. Sharleen Makusha (born 28 December 1997) is a Zimbabwean netball player who represents Zimbabwe internationally and plays in the position of goal keeper. Early life Makusha was born in 1997 and her first interest was soccer. However her skills and height attracted the attention of netball coach Simbarashe Mlambo. Makusha won her parents support for her new interest when she won a scholarship to Pamushana Mission school in Masvingo where she repeated two years of schooling and developed her netball skills. Career In 2018, she was included in the national under 21 team to attend the World Cup in Botswana.
