Zhu Yan
Zhu Yan () is a Chinese ballet dancer. Since 1995, she has danced with the National Ballet of China where she is now the leading prima ballerina. Biography Zhu Yan started dancing ballet when she was nine. After graduating from the Beijing Dance Academy in 1995, she joined the National Ballet of China where she became a principal dancer in 2004. As of 2013, she is the company's leading prima ballerina. She has created leading roles in most of the classical ballets including ''Swan Lake'', '' Don Quixote'', '' The Sleeping Beauty'' and ''Giselle''. She has also danced in the contemporary works '' The Rite of Spring'', '' Four Last Songs'' and '' Études'' as well as in many of the ballets choreographed by Georges Balanchine. National Ballet Of China
The National Ballet of China (NBC), known in China as the Central Ballet Troupe was founded on 31 December 1959. It is the national ballet company of the People's Republic of China. The ballet company works from the Tianqiao Theater, this was specifically built for NBC in 1959, and it was renovated in 2001. The Royal New Zealand Ballet is a ballet company based in Wellington, New Zealand. It was originally known as The New Zealand Ballet Company. History New Zealand Ballet was established in 1953 as an independent charitable trust by Royal Danish Ballet Principal Poul Gnatt, Beryl Nettleton, Bettina Edwards, another female dancer, and pianist Dorothea Franchi. The Benois de la Danse is a ballet competition held annually in Moscow. Founded by the International Dance Association in 1991, it takes place each year on or around April 29 and it's judged by a jury. The members of this jury change every year and it consists of only top ballet personages. The Varna International Ballet Competition is a biennial ballet competition held in Varna, Bulgaria. The Royal Opera House (ROH) is an opera house and major performing arts venue in Covent Garden, central London. ''Raise the Red Lantern'' is a 1991 film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li. It is an adaptation by of the 1990 novella '' Raise the Red Lantern'' (originally ''Wives and Concubines'') by Su Tong.
