Zhou Xiaozhou (general)
Zhou Xiaozhou (; born October 1956) is a lieutenant general ('' zhongjiang'') of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). He was a delegate to the 11th and 12th National People's Congress. Biography Zhou was born in Chao County (now Chaohu), Anhui, in October 1956. He enlisted in the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in 1973, and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in 1976. He graduated from the PLA National Defence University. He was deputy chief of staff of the in 1998, deputy commander of the 27th Group Army in 2001, and deputy commander of the Beijing Garrison in 2003. In 2007, he was appointed commander of the 14th Group Army, he remained in that position until July 2012, when he was transferred to the Chengdu Military Region and appointed chief of staff. In December 2014, he became deputy commander of the Chengdu Military Region, and was appointed director of the Rehabilitation Office in January 2016. Beijing Military Region
The Beijing Military Region was one of seven military regions for the Chinese People's Liberation Army. From the mid 1980s to 2017, it had administration of all military affairs within Beijing city, Tianjin city, Hebei province, Shanxi province, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Region is mainly responsible for defending the People's Republic of China from Mongolia and Russia, and also protects the capital of China, and had the largest number of military personnel of any of the seven regions active from 1985-2017. The Region has now been disbanded and superseded by the Central Theater Command and Northern Theater Command. Both the 63rd and 65th Corps/Group Armies were stationed in the Beijing area after returning from the Korean War and remained in the region ever since, becoming Group Armies after 1985. The 14th Army was an army level formation of the People's Liberation Army. 14th Corps 14th Corps () was activated on February 14, 1949 basing on 4th Column of Zhongyuan Field Army and defecting Republic of China Army 110th Division. The corps commander was Li Chengfang, political commissar - Lei Rongtian. The Corps was composed of the 40th, the 41st, and the 42nd Divisions. 27th Group Army
The 27th Group Army was a military formation of the People's Republic of China's People's Liberation Army and one of three active group armies belonging to the Beijing Military Region between 1949 and 2017. It was based in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. By 2013, the army included the 80th, 82nd, 188th, and 235th Mechanized Infantry Brigades, and the 7th Armored Brigade, plus the 12th Artillery and an AAA brigade. Chinese Civil War The 27th Group Army traces its lineage to World War II as part of the 8th Route Army. Sometime following the end of the war the unit was reassigned, redesignated and reorganized as the 9th Column of the Eastern China Field Army.
