Zheng Chunhua
Zheng Chunhua (; born 1959) is a Chinese writer best known for writing children's literature. She is noted for her book ''Big Head Son and Small Head Dad'', which was a besteller among children's literature, and the adapted animation with the same name, released in 1995, was also a big hit. Biography Zheng was born into a Hui people family, in Chun'an County, Zhejiang in 1959. After high school, she worked in a farm and soon became a nursery governess in 1979, after the Culture Revolution. Zheng started to publish works in 1980. That same year, her poem, ''Little Bed'', won first prize at the Shanghai Youth Poetry Creation Contest. In 1981, she was assigned to Shanghai Adolescence and Children Press as an editor. Her noted book, ''Big Head Son and Small Head Dad'', was published in 1990, and has been adapted for animation with the same name in 1995. Zheng or zhèng (hanyu pinyin, Hanyu Pinyin) or Cheng (Wade-Giles) () is a Chinese surname and also the name of an Zheng (state), ancient state in today's Henan province. It is written as in traditional Chinese and in simplified Chinese. It is the 7th name on the ''Hundred Family Surnames'' poem. Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award
The Chen Bochui Children’s Literature Award (陈伯吹儿童文学奖) is a major award issued in China, with the aim of promoting excellence in children’s publishing and cultural diversity. It was originally called the Children’s Literary Garden Prize (儿童文学园丁奖), then the Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award from 1988. The first awards were given in 1981, and were awarded every two years. It was renamed as the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award (陈伯吹国际儿童文学奖), and since 2014 has been held annually. It is named after the author, translator, journalist and educator Chen Bochui (1906-1997), who translated Pushkin’s ''Children’s Tales'', '' The Wizard of Oz'', and ''Don Quixote'' into Chinese for the first time in the 1940s, and who donated his life savings to establish this award. Culture Revolution
The Cultural Revolution, formally known as the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, was a sociopolitical movement in the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched by Mao Zedong in 1966, and lasting until his death in 1976. Its stated goal was to preserve Chinese communism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society. Hui People
The Hui people ( zh, c=, p=Huízú, w=Hui2-tsu2, Xiao'erjing: , dng, Хуэйзў, ) are an East Asian ethnoreligious group predominantly composed of Chinese-speaking adherents of Islam. They are distributed throughout China, mainly in the northwestern provinces and in the Zhongyuan region. According to the 2011 census, China is home to approximately 10.5 million Hui people. The 110,000 Dungan people of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are also considered part of the Hui ethnicity. The Hui have a distinct connection with Islamic culture. For example, they follow Islamic dietary laws and reject the consumption of pork, the most commonly consumed meat in China, and have developed their own variation of Chinese cuisine. They also dress differently than the Han Chinese, some men wear white caps (taqiyah) and some women wear headscarves, as is the case in many Islamic cultures.
