Zhao Yong (politician)
Zhao Yong (; born January 1963) is a Chinese politician. Zhao is a career politician with extensive experience in the Communist Youth League, and previously served as the party chief of Tangshan, the executive vice governor of Hebei, and the deputy party chief of Hebei. Zhao was a controversial figure who was criticized for his role in the censorship of the ''Bingdian'' column of the Youth League's flagship newspaper, and for a massive project he undertook in Caofeidian that ended in failure. Biography Zhao Yong was born in Yiyang, Hunan in 1963. He attended Hunan Water Works and Hydroelectric College, earning a college diploma. Zhao (surname)
Zhao (; ) is a Chinese-language surname, means “walk quickly” and “jump” in ancient Chinese, and is the 1st surname in the famous Hundred Family Surnames – the traditional list of all Chinese surnames – because it was the emperor's surname of the Song Dynasty (960–1279) when the list was compiled. The first line of the poem is in the line 趙錢孫李 (Zhao, Qian, Sun, Li). Zhao is now ranking as the 7th most common surname in China and carried mainly by people of Mandarin-speaking regions. The 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was elected by the 18th National Congress on 15 November 2012, and sat in plenary sessions until the communing of the 19th National Congress in 2017. Ling Jihua
Ling Jihua (; born 22 October 1956) is a former Chinese politician and one of the principal political advisers of former leader Hu Jintao. Ling was best known for his tenure as chief of the General Office of the Chinese Communist Party between 2007 and 2012. Ling was charged with corruption, bribery, and other misconduct and was sentenced to life imprisonment as part of a larger campaign carried out by Xi Jinping. Ling began his career as a functionary in regional branches of the Communist Youth League in his native Shanxi Province. Democratic Life Meeting
A Democratic Life Meeting () is a periodic gathering of cadres of the Chinese Communist Party who engage in criticism and self-criticism. They are held in all levels of the Communist Party organization from the "grassroots" to the central leadership. It is unclear when these meetings began taking place. In 1987, General Secretary Hu Yaobang was ousted from power after a multi-day Democratic Life Meeting held specifically to criticize him personally and his reform program more generally. They took place on an infrequent basis over the next few decades (some sources say, once every year). General Secretary Xi Jinping held a high-profile 'revival' of the Democratic Life Meeting at the provincial party headquarters of Hebei province in September 2013. The ''China Youth Daily'' () is the newspaper of the Communist Youth League of China since 1951 with editorial and financial independence in the People's Republic of China.
